Impact of the Corona virus on Fontys students and staff members

800px-Sars-corona

Due to the rapidly spreading Corona virus, Fontys strongly advises students and staff members not to travel to China at this time. We strongly advise anyone who travels to China (or to other countries!) to be aware of the current travel advice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/landen/china/reizen/reisadvies.

The site of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) provides up-to-date information on possible health risks via https://www.rivm.nl/coronavirus. This site also contains a number of useful FAQs.

In close cooperation with other Dutch Higher Education Institutes, Fontys is closely monitoring the recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and RIVM. Fontys is also monitoring the assessment of the World Health Organization's (WHO) that may declare a state of emergency. In that case, the advice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the policy of Fontys may be adjusted.

At this time, incoming students from China are welcome at Fontys. We do, however, advise students and staff members who have recently been in Wuhan or the province of Hubei or who have been in close contact with people from Wuhan or the province of Hubei, and have symptoms of illness, to contact their doctor immediately. Chinese students, teachers and researchers who are currently studying or working at a Fontys institute and who have recently been to China are advised to go to their doctor if they have symptoms similar to those of the Corona virus. Chinese students who start their studies at Fontys February 1st will receive an email with the urgent request to take immediate action if they experience any symptoms.
