Tilburgse studenten winnen Jacques de Leeuw Award

Linh Búi Le Huyen (student aan Fontys Conservatorium Tilburg) en Ilse Groeneveld (student aan Fontys Docent Beeldende Kunst en Vormgeving) hebben de Jacques de Leeuw Award 2026 gewonnen. Tijdens een feestelijke uitreiking in Factorium Tilburg ontvingen zij ieder een geldprijs van €10.000, bedoeld om te investeren in hun verdere studie of carrière.

De Jacques de Leeuw Award is een unieke prijs in Nederland voor studenten van Fontys Academy of the Arts. Jaarlijks worden tien studenten genomineerd die zich onderscheiden door uitzonderlijk talent, een inspirerend project of een bijzondere visie op artistieke en maatschappelijke thema's. Een onafhankelijke jury, onder voorzitterschap van Jur van der Lecq, koos uiteindelijk twee winnaars: één in de categorie uitvoerend en één in de categorie docerend. Volgens de jury was ook dit jaar de keuze allesbehalve eenvoudig.

Over Linh Búi Le Huyen
"Meer woorden zijn niet nodig." Met die woorden vat de jury haar oordeel over Linh samen. Zodra zij haar cello bespeelt, spreekt zij volgens de jury volledig via haar muziek. Haar spel neemt het publiek mee in een eigen muzikaal universum, waarin noten, melodieën en akkoorden haar taal vormen.

Over Ilse Groeneveld
"Ilse laat een wervelende mix van professionaliteit, weldoordachtheid, sterke motivatie, leergierigheid en artistieke kwaliteit zien." De jury prijst Ilse daarnaast om haar uitzonderlijke gevoel voor wat haar leerlingen nodig hebben. Met haar flexibele lesmethode laat zij zien hoe kunstonderwijs leerlingen kan inspireren en ondersteunen, zowel bij het kijken naar bestaande kunst als naar eigen werk en tijdens het creatieve maakproces.

Artistieke ontwikkeling
Stichting Jacques de Leeuw reikt jaarlijks de Jacques de Leeuw Award uit aan twee talentvolle studenten van Fontys Academy of the Arts. Met een geldprijs van €10.000 per winnaar biedt de stichting jonge makers de mogelijkheid om hun artistieke ontwikkeling voort te zetten, hun ambities waar te maken en hun bijdrage aan het culturele werkveld verder uit te bouwen.

Tilburg students win the Jacques de Leeuw Award

Linh Búi Le Huyen (student at Fontys Conservatorium Tilburg) and Ilse Groeneveld (student at Fontys Fine Art and Design in Education) have won the Jacques de Leeuw Award 2026. During a festive award ceremony at Factorium Tilburg, they each received a cash prize of €10.000 intended to be invested in their further studies or careers.

The Jacques de Leeuw Award is a unique prize in the Netherlands for students at Fontys Academy of the Arts. Each year, ten students are nominated who stand out for their exceptional talent, an inspiring project or a distinctive vision on artistic and social themes. An independent jury, chaired by Jur van der Lecq, ultimately selected two winners: one in the performing arts category and one in the education category. According to the jury, the choice was anything but easy this year either.

About Linh Búi Le Huyen
“No further words are needed.” With these words, the jury summarises its assessment of Linh. According to the jury, as soon as she plays her cello, she speaks entirely through her music. Her playing transports the audience into her own musical universe, in which notes, melodies and chords form her language.

About Ilse Groeneveld
“Ilse displays a dazzling blend of professionalism, thoughtfulness, strong motivation, a thirst for learning and artistic quality.” The jury also praises Ilse for her exceptional understanding of what her students need. Through her flexible teaching method, she demonstrates how art education can inspire and support students, both when viewing existing art and their own work, and during the creative process.

Artistic development
Every year, the Jacques de Leeuw Foundation presents the Jacques de Leeuw Award to two talented students from Fontys Academy of the Arts. With a cash prize of €10.000 per winner, the foundation offers young artists the opportunity to continue their artistic development, realise their ambitions and further expand their contribution to the cultural sector.
