1. Om extra werkdruk te voorkomen wordt er geen onderwijsvrije middag afgekondigd voor de hele hogeschool;
2. Studenten die willen demonstreren terwijl ze onderwijsverplichtingen hebben, dienen zich af te melden bij de docent;
National Day of Action for Higher Education on 9 December
The future of higher education is currently being decided at the formation table. After all the actions taken over the past year, the student unions and organizations such as FNV and AOb are reminding political parties of their promise not to cut funding for education. That is why they are taking action again on 9 December. At 12:00 noon, they will gather at Dam Square in Amsterdam. Their goal: the next government must reverse the budget cuts and instead invest more in education and research.
The Executive Board of Fontys understands the action. Staff and students who wish to take part in the strike on 9 December can count on support from the Executive Board.
For more information, visit the AOb and FNV websites.
Guidelines for staff
Once again, we ask everyone involved in teaching to ensure that the actions have as little impact as possible on education: exams will continue as scheduled, and classes should be rescheduled if you wish to attend the event. As an employee, you have the right to strike. In that case, it is appreciated if you inform your supervisor, but strictly speaking, it is not required. No salary will be withheld from staff members who are absent to participate in the demonstration in Amsterdam.
Guidelines for students
Student unions support the strike and are calling on students to participate. Fontys uses the following principles:
- To avoid additional workload, no school-wide free afternoon will be declared;
- Students who wish to demonstrate while they have educational obligations must report their absence to the lecturer;
- Examinations will proceed as scheduled. The individual right of students to an extra attempt, as laid down in the OER and study guide, remains in place.
We hope this provides sufficient information. Do you have any questions? Please contact your supervisor.
