Built Environment and Loneliness

Worldwide, a third of all adults experience feelings of loneliness.Loneliness has serious consequences for mental and physical health and should therefore be urgently addressed. To date, most research has focused on individual predictors of loneliness. However, it is increasingly recognised that the built environment also plays an important role in loneliness. This mini-conference focuses on the way the built environment and loneliness are related.

You are welcome to join us on Wednesday 25 March 2026, in exploring how design and management of the built environment can help to alleviate loneliness.

Please feel free to share this invitation within your network. On behalf of the I BELONG consortium, we cordially invite you to attend the mini-conference on Built Environment and Loneliness,

We work closely with partners from the I BELONG consortium, who contribute their expertise on loneliness and the built environment.
