Studying Mechatronics at Fontys in Eindhoven, you immerse yourself in high-tech systems and robotics, collaborating with leading companies in Brainport Eindhoven. Meanwhile, you work in cutting-edge labs at the campus for hands-on learning aligned with industry advancements.
In the first year, your weeks consist of:
In your first year at Fontys Eindhoven, you dive straight into practical projects, crafting robots and more, blending mechatronic design, electrical networks, mechanics, digital design, C-programming, and mathematics with integrated design. Explore general engineering skills, communication, and presentation techniques while engaging in lab work and gamified projects.
In your second year at Fontys Eindhoven, you dive deeper into Mechatronics, expanding your skills and knowledge. You will be taking advanced courses such as PLC programming, dynamics, digital technology, and measurement and control technology.
Collaborate with students from Electrical and Mechanical Engineering on interdisciplinary projects. Experience project-based learning tightly integrated with subject-specific courses, all tied to real-world industry assignments.
This core phase enriches your understanding and prepares you for practical application.
In the third year at Mechatronics Eindhoven, your learning journey takes a practical turn.
Begin with an internship at a mechatronics-focused company, either locally or internationally. We're here to assist you in making the right decision.
Then, you select a minor that suits your interests, whether in mechatronics or beyond. For instance, Fontys offers minors in Adaptive Robotics or Smart Product Development with Additive Manufacturing, providing you with valuable skills for the future. But you can also choose from one of the many other minors in the Netherlands or abroad.
In the thrilling climax of your bachelor's programme, you delve into specializations and you embark on your final graduation project.
In the fourth year, you choose one of two specializations:
During projects, you'll have the opportunity to select the role that resonates with you the most. Are you more inclined towards design, research, or project management? You'll also collaborate with Dutch and international students, preparing you for the global job market in Brainport or abroad.
In the second half of the year, you'll complete a graduation project at a company, either locally or internationally, blending practical experience with academic work to write your bachelor thesis. Upon successfully completing the fourth year, you'll be ready for the future!
At Fontys Venlo, the programme Mechatronics emphasizes the design of energy-efficient systems and smart automation solutions. Located in the Greenport region near the international Ruhr area, you access cutting-edge green technologies. Our project-based learning offers you specialisation and real-world problem-solving skills.
In your first year you delve into a range of subjects including mathematics for engineers, mechanics, electronics and software design. Additionally, a significant portion of this year will be spent collaborating with fellow students on various projects where you apply theory to real prototypes and systems.
In your second year of Mechatronics at Fontys Venlo, you deepen your understanding of mechatronic system design and control. Moreover, you learn to integrate mechanical, electrical and software engineering effectively in hands-on projects, enhancing your practical skills and preparing you for real-world applications.
In the third year of Mechatronics, you have the opportunity to spend one semester on an intership in the Netherlands or abroad, followed by a minor. Choose to broaden or specialise, either at Fontys, another Dutch university, or one of our 125+ partner universities worldwide.
