If you start your study at Fontys in September, you will start with a super cool introduction week: Purple!
The new academic year will start in September. We will hold the Purple introduction week for the new first-year students at the end of August 2024.

During the Purple introduction week, getting to know each other is central. Getting to know your classmates, your education, the city where you will be studying and of course also getting to know Fontys. We intend to make the Purple introduction week 2024 as beautiful and fantastic as every year.

Note! Team Purple organises the introduction week in the cities of Eindhoven and Tilburg. The programmes and institutes choose whether they do not, partially or fully participate in the Purple activities. Venlo is following up on the introduction week that is organised locally.

Purple Festival 2022

What is Purple?

We are organising the Purple introduction week in 2024 again. Purple welcomes new students and ensures that they get to know their fellow students, the study programme and the city. Keep an eye on the website for updates regarding this event.

For Fontys, and also for Purple, sustainability and vitality are very important. We don't just want to see our students graduate, we want them to do so in a healthy way and in a sustainable environment.

Purple also contributes to this by opting for sustainable activities and seeking collaborations with the right partners.

For example, we work together with 'Alcoholwijs', a project within Fontys that is committed to the responsible use of alcohol. Another collaboration is with the mobility project group, a group that is working on a safe and accessible Fontys. In addition, sustainable and healthy choices are encouraged in the journey to and from Fontys.

Don't forget to follow the Fontys channels before, during and after Purple. The Purple team mainly communicates through Facebook and Instagram.

What is the week planning?

This was the planning for 2023, 2024 will follow later.

This week is set up with different elements. You start 'small' on the study/institute days. These will take place on Monday and/or Tuesday,, depending on the institute and the program where you will be studying. Here you will get to know your fellow students, the teachers and the study programme. Every study program does its best to give you a 'Warm Welcome'. The activities of these day(s) differs per study programme.

* The programme of your introduction week can be found in Fresh at Fontys, click on the study pogramme you'll be following and then on the 'Starting your studies' tab.

Wednesday is all about exploring the city! All participants of the StadsBBQ will arrive at the meeting point around 16:00h. Here everyone can eat, drink and dance with the DJ. During dinner there everyone is free to party, dance and talk about the experiences of the day. After dinner, the pubtour follows with the participating pubs in your city. The pub crawl runs from 10 PM to 1 AM.

We close the introduction week with a BANG... On Thursday we organise Purple Festival from 14:00h to 23:00h. The entire Fontys community comes together at Leijpark. Participants from all cities of all introductory programmes come together to the Purple Festival and enjoy the artists and activities spread over the different stages all day long. The transport from and to the festival is arranged by (shuttle) bus, public transport or bike (Tilburg). This is how you close the introduction week in style with a party that you will talk about with your new friends, classmates and teachers for a long time to come.

Please note: a ticket is included in a ticket for the entire introduction week. So you do NOT have to buy a separate festivalticket if you participate in the introduction week as a first-year student (intro kid) or supervisor (intro parent).

Buy a festival ticket as a Fontysstudent, -employee or alumni?

We would like to invite senior Fontys students, -employees and alumni to the Purple Festival as well!

This activity is all about getting to know each other and a 'Warm Welcome' @ Fontys. During the dinner, students have time to get to know each other,, but various information organisations are also present to help with questions about banking, transport and housing, among other things. Participation in this activity is based on registration, no registration = no place. All international (new) Fontys students, teachers, buddies or non-international students are also welcome, provided that registration has been completed.
