Designer, advisor, test engineer or commercial employee; you’re the brains behind new innovations
Will you design sustainable city lighting to save energy? Make the electric drive systems in the latest race cars even more sustainable? Or are you the problem solver who ensures every section of a warehouse runs smoothly? Electrical engineers are in high demand, so most students find job right after graduation!
After graduation you can start your career as a:
For example as a home automation specialist, who ensures everything in a house works energy efficiently using home automation. You can programme a system so the lights illuminate in unison with the beat of the music, but you also make sure the house is at a comfortable temperature when people are there, but is turned off in order to save energy when they are away from home.
In this position, you will advise large technical companies on how to keep the planet liveable. For example by proposing a new concept for generating sustainable energy. Does this sound like a challenge made for you?
Will you be testing the latest surgical robot for the hospital? Or a care robot that helps support people with disabilities even better? This way, you can truly make a difference in someone's life.
A commercial employee confidently walks into a large technological company to present the latest software. At the end of your studies, you posses the knowledge and experience to ensure companies they can achieve even greater results with the innovation you’re presenting.
As an embedded software engineer, you will be developing crucial software which is embedded directly into electronic appliances like smartphones and cars.
After completing the Bachelor’s programme, you can continue with a master’s programme at higher professional (hbo) or university (wo) level. A wo master’s programme is equivalent to an hbo master’s programme. The difference is not the level, but the approach.
An hbo master’s programme is practice-oriented. You work on complex real-world challenges and apply your knowledge directly. At Fontys, you can for example continue with the hbo master’s programme Digital Technology Engineering, System Design and Applied Quantum Technology.
A wo master’s programme is more theoretical and focuses on scientific research. Continuing your studies at a technical university is possible, but the transition may require additional entry requirements or preparation. For this route, agreements have been made with TU/e within an hbo top programme.
Which master’s programme suits you best depends on your learning style, interests and future plans.
