This master's programme is a joint degree offered by four Dutch universities of applied sciences: Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Saxion University of Applied Sciences and The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
Each partner university brings its own area of expertise within quantum technology. To fully participate, you’ll need to travel between the different locations.
The programme focuses on applications of quantum software, photonics, and electronics to solve challenges that classical technologies cannot address.
Gain skills that directly translate to careers in the growing quantum industry.
Build, test, and implement quantum solutions for real-world problems.
Have access to cutting-edge research facilities and endless networking opportunities.
This two year programme starts with an introduction, followed by a shared core phase. You will then specialise in one of the three fields, before concluding with a graduation internship. By combining theory, lab sessions, and projects, it prepares you for a career in the quantum industry.
Leverage advanced tools and techniques to push the boundaries of applied quantum technology.
Solve complex problems alongside engineers, physicists, and software developers.
The programme links quantum physics with practical engineering and computer science.
This masters’ offers a mixture of online and hybrid lessons, project work and on-site learning across four locations. You will choose one of the universities as your ‘home location’. Because of the highly specific topics, you will have to travel one to two times a week to another campus.
After completing the Master Applied Quantum Technology, you’ll enter a sector at the forefront of scientific and technological innovation. Graduates from all tracks are equipped to contribute to impactful projects in the high-tech industry or research.

There are a lot of job opportunities after this master. You can work at a R&D department at a high-tech company or bank, or in a small start-up working on the forefront of these high-tech technologies. You can work as a technician on complex systems, or take a more consulting role on possible quantum solutions.
The curriculum covers a broad range of topics, including:
Studying part-time is not possible. While some classes will be available online, it is not possible to complete the entire programme remotely.
Both are level 7 programmes, but a wo master's focuses on research and theory, while an hbo master's is more about practical skills. In particular, this master focuses on enabling technologies that are needed for developing quantum technologies, like quantum sensing, computing and communication.
