At Fontys Technology, research always starts with a concrete challenge from practice. Students, researchers and industry professionals work together to explore what is really going on, identify possible solutions and develop a working prototype or test setup to demonstrate that the technology works.

As a result, students contribute to real projects, researchers test and validate technology, and businesses gain practical knowledge and solutions in return.

A significant part of this research takes place within the Centre of Expertise High Tech Systems & Materials (CoE HTSM), where research groups, students and partners collaborate on innovations in high-tech systems and advanced materials. From designing and controlling complex technical systems to developing new materials and manufacturing technologies. Fontys Technology researchers also contribute to several other Fontys Centres of Expertise.
