A degree in Applied Physics opens many doors, allowing you to build a career full of opportunities.
As an applied physicist, you can find job opportunities in various sectors. Your skills and knowledge are highly sought after by companies like TNO, DIFFER, ASML, VDL, Canon, and Bosch. Hospitals, start-ups, engineering and consulting firms also offer plenty of opportunities.
After graduation you can start your career as a:
As a researcher, you can work at a company or laboratory focused on quality control of materials or products. For example, you determine the properties that a lamp's light must meet or whether the supplied metal is strong enough.
As a product developer, you are responsible for the innovation and development of products. You conceptualize and test technical solutions and can work in various industries. For example, you ensure that a city bus operates more quietly or that a 3D printer produces more precise prints.
As a Process Optimization Advisor, you have expertise in various processes. You utilize this knowledge to improve and sustain factory processes. You work on improvement proposals and work instructions, and you implement new machines and production methods.
After completing your bachelor’s degree, you can continue with a master’s programme at higher professional (hbo) or university (wo) level. A wo master’s programme is equivalent to an hbo master’s programme. The difference is not the level, but the approach.
An hbo master’s programme is practice-oriented. You work on real-world challenges and apply your knowledge directly. At Fontys, you can for example continue with hbo master’s programmes such as Applied Quantum Technology or Digital Technology Engineering.
A wo master’s programme is more theoretical and focuses on scientific research. You can continue your studies at a university, such as TU/e or Utrecht University, with master’s programmes like Astrophysics, Climate Physics or Theoretical Physics.
Which master’s programme suits you best depends on your learning style, interests and future plans.
