Do you want to develop a model to help doctors choose the right surgery? Create an algorithm to optimize city traffic lights? Use A.I. to protect a bank from cybercrime? There are plenty of job opportunities! Further studies are, of course, also an option.
With a degree in Applied Mathematics, you can go in any direction. You could work in hospitals, municipalities, the financial sector or commercial companies. Wherever they work with data, you can make a contribution.
After graduation you can start your career as a:
A data scientist uses data analysis, statistics, and A.I. to gain insights and solve problems. You collect, process, and model data using techniques such as machine learning, and visualize the results to enable decision-making. With A.I., you develop intelligent systems that, for example, can make predictions.
After completing the Bachelor’s programme in Applied Mathematics and Data Science, you can continue with a master’s programme at higher professional (hbo) or university (wo) level. A wo master’s programme is equivalent to an hbo master’s programme. The difference is not the level, but the approach.
An hbo master’s programme is practice-oriented. You work on complex real-world challenges and apply your knowledge directly. At Fontys, you can for example continue with the hbo master’s programme Digital Technology Engineering.
A wo master’s programme is more theoretical and focuses on scientific research. Continuing your studies at a technical university is possible, but the transition may require additional entry requirements or preparation. For this route, agreements have been made with TU/e within an hbo top programme.
Which master’s programme suits you best depends on your learning style, interests and future plans.
