Marcel Staring

Marcel Staring works as a programme director for the Dutch government. He has extensive experience in various organisations, programmes and projects in a managerial role. Some examples of this are the Schengen and Passport Project, Q fever and decentralisation of youth care (information provision).

Since 2018, Marcel has been responsible for I-vakmanschap (IT professionalism) as a contractor. This encompasses various programmes and projects aimed at ensuring sufficient IT professionals with up-to-date knowledge and skills. An important programme within I-vakmanschap is the I-Partnership, which focuses on cooperation between higher education and the British Government. The aim of this partnership is to promote structural cooperation in the field of digitisation and information management, with the ultimate goal of providing good services to citizens and businesses and strengthening the digital position of the Netherlands.

Through structural cooperation with the education sector, government organisations gain access to the most up-to-date knowledge and the latest generation of I-talent. At the same time, government organisations transfer knowledge and experience to the education sector by offering students the opportunity to conduct research and carry out assignments. This helps educational institutions to better align their curricula with the needs of the government. Through the Fontys ICT Strategic Advisory Board, Marcel would like to contribute to the goals of I-Partnership and, specifically, the connection between Fontys and the central government. He also wants to learn from the other parties in the Strategic Council and the ecosystem in the Eindhoven region.
