Get a good impression of what your study programme will look like.
As a logistics engineer, you make predictions and improve the supply chain. You analyse big data and discover key trends. During the HBO Logistics Engineering programme, you will learn everything about data and technology to improve logistical processes.
The first year focuses on building broad business knowledge across finance, business, logistics and marketing. You work on company projects while learning the fundamentals of logistics and business. After your first year you focus on developing knowledge in data-analysis, warehousing, distribution, production, and integrated logistics, along with essential business expertise and interpersonal skills.
In year 1, you work together with students from International Business, International Finance & Control, Marketing Management and Logistics Management, and explore the basics of logistics and business. Understand how these disciplines connect in company decision-making. After this year, you can continue with the Logistics Engineering programme or you can switch to another programme without study delay.
You already have an idea of what interests you, but want to explore what really suits you before making a final choice. Learn through practical experience in a flexible study structure, without unnecessary stress, delay or extra costs.
Why choose a joint first year?
The programmes are closely connected and prepare you to work across disciplines. This structure gives you more opportunity to explore your strengths, reduces pressure when making choices and allows you to switch programmes smoothly if needed.
In year 2, you continue in the chosen Logistics direction. You work on different logistics projects and build technical and data-driven expertise in logistics with subjects such as production, distribution, warehousing, and green logistics. You apply theory in hands-on projects that focus on optimisation and innovation.
In year 3, you decide whether to continue with Logistics Engineering or Logistics Management. If you choose Logistics Engineering you can select one of two profiles: Supply Chain Engineer or Supply Chain Analyst. Use your free-choice semester to explore your interests and develop your skills further. You can combine it with an internship in the Netherlands or abroad, a pre-master, a minor at Fontys or another university, or a research project to broaden your logistics experience. You also follow the subject of integrated logistics, the content depends on your chosen profile.
In your final year, you deepen your expertise within your chosen profile and work on a company project linked to your data-analysis expertise. In the final semester, you complete your graduation internship and bachelor thesis, tackling a real engineering-based logistics problem. After completing it, you’ll earn your Bachelor of Science and you are ready for a career in logistics.
