Student experiences

Diego

Graduate Bachelor ICT and Founder of LITSTILL

"During my studies in ICT & Media Design, I started building what would eventually become my own media production company.

The flexibility of the programme allowed me to combine studying with entrepreneurship. I could develop my business, gain practical experience and immediately apply what I learned in class.

One of the most important lessons was learning how to understand clients. Behind every question is a larger challenge. By conducting research, asking the right questions and working closely with stakeholders, I learned how to create solutions that genuinely add value.

The programme also helped me develop teamwork, communication and leadership skills that I now use daily as Creative Director of LITSTILL.

If you have ambitions beyond the classroom and want the freedom to shape your own future, this programme gives you the space, support and opportunities to do exactly that".

Anjela

Graduate Bachelor ICT

"What defined my time at Fontys was the opportunity to step into leadership roles long before graduation.

After a lecturer recommended me to a software company, I found myself managing real client projects while still a student.

Beyond coursework, I became involved in student associations, organised events and represented Fontys at education fairs. These roles helped me develop organisational skills, public speaking experience and the confidence to take initiative.

Fontys encourages you not just to learn ICT, but to grow into a professional who can lead and make an impact".

Tobias

IT System Administrator at First Impression (partner company)

"At First Impression, we work closely with Fontys ICT students through internships and graduation projects.

What stands out is how quickly they become part of the team. Students work on real business challenges involving cloud technology, security, automation, AI and data solutions. Their ideas often bring a fresh perspective and help us discover new opportunities.

The projects are meaningful because they directly contribute to our organisation. Students are not observing from the sidelines. They are actively involved in finding and developing solutions. This practical experience helps them build professional confidence and understand what it is like to work in an international technology-driven environment.

By the time they graduate, many students already have valuable industry experience, professional contacts and a clear understanding of how technology creates business value. That makes them well prepared for the next step in their careers".

Melissa

Corporate recruiter, Amexio (partner company)

"Technology is transforming every industry, from healthcare and logistics to finance and entertainment. As a recruiter, I see growing demand for professionals who can combine technical knowledge with communication, business understanding and problem-solving skills.

That is why I enjoy working with Fontys ICT students. They learn how to develop solutions, but also how to understand users, collaborate with stakeholders and think critically about innovation.

The ICT sector is becoming increasingly international. Teams often work across countries, cultures and time zones. Employers are therefore looking for professionals who can adapt quickly, communicate effectively and keep learning throughout their careers. With developments such as AI, cyber security and digital transformation, the opportunities are enormous.

For students looking for a degree that offers long-term career prospects and global opportunities, ICT remains one of the strongest choices they can make".

Martin

Graduate Bachelor ICT

During my third year at Fontys, I joined IT Lab, an innovation hub where students develop virtual and augmented reality solutions to improve learning. It was the perfect place to explore emerging technologies in a hands on way.

What I appreciated most was the freedom to experiment, fail, try again and see real progress. Lecturers treated us like professionals and encouraged us to take ownership of our ideas.

My time at Fontys helped me discover not only new technologies, but also my own potential to innovate.

Edita

Graduate Bachelor ICT

"I started my ICT journey with no programming experience, but I knew I could learn as I went, and the field offered endless possibilities.

What made Fontys feel right for me was the opportunity to explore different ICT disciplines. I have tried several specialisations - from Software to Mobile Development - but gradually discovered I enjoy the User Interaction part the most.

Having the freedom to switch helped me understand not only what I am good at, but also what I enjoy contributing to in the digital world".

Skip

Associate degree ICT graduate & Bachelor ICT graduate

"From my very first weeks in the Associate Degree in ICT, I knew this programme suited me.

What appealed to me most was the strong focus on real world practice. Instead of working through theory alone, we collaborate with actual companies and solve ICT challenges that mirror professional reality.

A typical week combines technical classes with group projects, so you immediately apply what you learn. The atmosphere is open and supportive, with approachable lecturers and motivated classmates. You are trusted with responsibility early on, which helped me grow in both confidence and professionalism.

This programme is an excellent choice if you enjoy learning by doing and want to gain practical experience alongside your studies".
