What is Logistics about?


Logistics is about managing the flow of products, information, and resources. It includes everything from production and storage to transport and delivery. Have you ever wondered how your newly ordered sneakers arrive at your home within twenty-four hours?

In this field you learn how to plan transport and delivery, organise storage and distribution, work with data and make processes more efficient.

Logistics is important in many industries, such as retail, food and technology.

Hey there, glad to see your interest in logistics!Let me tell you a bit more on what this field is all about as well as what is it like to be mastering it at Fontys Venlo University of Applied Sciences.

Logistics is a challenging but endlessly interesting industry full of adventure, complexity, and lots of problems to solve! Why is that? Well, think about it – logistics is everywhere, in your online orders, in production facilities, on the road – everywhere! That is why, I dare to say that logistics and supply chain management are key enablers of business success and growth!I chose to follow that path at Fontys Venlo because of the education quality, the international environment and the location. Venlo is an absolute logistics hot-spot! Having said that, let’s look at what you can look forward to in the logistics program at Fontys!

You will learn about all aspects of logistics – from warehousing, distribution, and production to supply chain management. Next to the theory classes, you will be exposed to the real business environment through guest lectures and the company projects every semester. As an engineer, I cannot miss to say that you will learn a lot about data analytics, Lean Six Sigma, and applied statistics which are crucial tools when dealing with real-word problems!

This very path gave me the opportunity to start my career and make an impact at a large international organization just at the end of my second year at Fontys. And let me tell you, it is challenging, but it’s totally worth it!

I knew right away that I wanted to pursue a career in logistics, and Logistics Management dives straight into the subject, which is one of the reasons I chose this program. From day one, you collaborate with companies on real-world projects, and I really appreciate that hands-on approach. After a year and a half, you also attend classes with students from various nationalities, so this program literally broadens your horizons.
