In this 4-year programme, you'll split your time between self-study, lectures, and practical classes. You'll learn physiotherapy skills like massage and movement therapy, understand body structure and function, and develop essential social skills.
You’ll have 80% theory and practical work, and 20% independent learning.

At the start of your Fontys Bachelor in Physiotherapy, you'll begin with study supervision, learning independence and responsibility. Then, you'll have an introductory internship, an internship, specialism modules, a minor, and finish with an internship and research project.
After completing your studies, you'll find numerous career opportunities as a physiotherapist. Work in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centres, schools, or start your own practice. Evolving roles include positions in companies, fitness centres, and sports associations.

The curriculum covers anatomy, physiology, neurology, orthopaedics, and pathology, alongside hands-on training in physiotherapy techniques such as movement therapy and massage. You will attend 16 hours of classes and 4 hours of project work per week, with 16 hours of independent study. Around 80% of your time is spent on theory and practical work, and 20% on self-directed learning.
Yes, from year 1 onwards. During supervised consultation hours, you examine patients and create treatment plans with guidance from instructors. This hands-on approach is central to the programme and prepares you for professional practice from an early stage.
In year 1, you build a foundation in anatomy, physiology, and basic physiotherapy techniques, including practice on real patients. In year 2, you develop greater independence and choose one of three focus programmes for years 3 and 4: Healthcare, Self-Management, or Interprofessional Collaboration. Years 3 and 4 include a minor, extensive internships, and a final graduation research project.
