What is it?

Dyscalculia is a learning disability in the field of arithmetic and is characterised by persistent problems with learning and the fluent and accurate recall and application of arithmetic and mathematical knowledge. Computerisation of arithmetic operations does not occur or occurs with great difficulty. Dyscalculia is not related to intelligence, but to the way the brain processes information.

What can you do yourself?
  • If you would benefit from exam facilities (such as extra time), make an appointment with a student counselor. Make sure you have a statement of your diagnosis with you for inspection;
  • Keep practising maths.
