FAA FAQ intro 2026 ENG VT
FAQ
What will the introduction week for new students look like?
The new academic year begins in the first week of September. However, before your studies begin, you will first take part in the Purple Introduction Week 2026 from Monday 24 to Thursday 27 August. This introduction week is all about getting to know each other. You’ll meet your fellow students and make friends for life. You’ll be shown the ropes of your degree program and your student city. Eating together, exploring the city together, getting to know each other and the program, making memories together and much more…
Do I have to attend every day?
Participation in the full program is compulsory. Of course, circumstances may arise that prevent you from taking part in the whole program. In that case, it is important that you inform your ‘intro parents’ and the organizers.
Why isn’t there a campsite?
Fontys’ budget cuts are also affecting Purple. From 2025, Fontys no longer provide centrally organized accommodation during the introduction week. We therefore ask participants to travel to and from home each day. Fontys is responsible for the participants until the end of the official program, which finishes at 21:00h or 22:00h at the latest each day. After this time, responsibility lies with the participants themselves and everyone is expected to make their own way home.
Who are my intro parents and how do I recognize them?
On Monday 24 August, you’ll meet your intro parents (senior students on the course). They’ll be waiting for you at Fontys Academy of the Arts. You’ll recognize them by their yellow, green, orange or pink T-shirts. You can also join the community group in advance (scan the QR code for your program’s WhatsApp group); there, the intro parents will introduce themselves to you and you can ask them all your questions!
Is everything within walking distance?
Yes, the entire program is accessible by foot. For activities further afield, bus transport has been arranged.
Can I get a discount if, due to circumstances, I am unable to take part in the whole program?
No, unfortunately that is not possible.
Do I need to bring my own food or drink?
Lunch and dinner are provided on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Thursdays, during the Purple Festival, you’ll need to sort your own food. At the festival site, you can choose from a wide range of food and drink. Soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, pizza, chips and much more. Dietary requirements and allergies are considered. We recommend bringing an empty bottle that you can refill with water on site.
Do I need to buy a separate ticket for the Purple Festival?
A ticket for the Purple Festival is included in a ticket for the entire introduction week. So, you do NOT need to buy a separate ticket if you are taking part in the introduction week as a first-year student (introduction participant) or a supervisor (intro parent).
What is forbidden to bring to the Purple Festival?
It is forbidden to bring glassware (including perfume bottles), plastic bottles (including spray-on sun cream), tins, fireworks, drugs, firearms or other dangerous objects, food, or your own drinks. These items will be confiscated by security at the entrance. In addition, you are not permitted to bring large bags, professional cameras or stickers.
What should I do in an emergency?
In an emergency, contact your intro parent immediately. If you cannot get through, call Frédérique van Steen straight away. In a life-threatening situation, dial 112 immediately.
Please note: always ensure your own safety first.
