How to pay tuition fees
Please ensure that you have arranged the payment of your Tuition Fees prior to commencing your course programme(s). If you fail to do so, your (re-) enrolment will not be finalised and you will not be permitted to follow your chosen course programme(s). Please also note that if you are not enrolled, you will not be entitled to receive any student grants and/or loans.
Digital Authorisation
You pay your tuition fees via a digital (direct debit) authorisation, either all at once or in instalments (via Fontys). You can fill in your payment details via Studielink.
- Start September: On or around 15 May, you can fill in your payment details via Studielink.
- Start February: You can fill in your payment details via Studielink as soon as your enrolment request is processed by Fontys.
More information about entering your payment details in Studielink can be found at info.studielink.nl/en. A lot of information can also be found in the Studielink Q&A - payment method section.
Questions regarding Tuition Fee payments
Using Studielink for the first time? Use this step-by-step plan where you will find more detailed descriptions.
If you cannot find the answer to your question via Q&A, you will need to contact your course department. To be issued with a proof of payment document regarding your Tuition Fees (if you have enrolled in a course programme at Fontys and you have enrolled in a second course programme at another institute), you will also need to contact your course department.
If you also want to attend a study programme at another higher education institution during an academic year and you are eligible for statutory tuition fees for both programmes, you only have to pay tuition fees once. Before starting your study programme, you can arrange for a Proof of Paid Tuition Fees through Studielink. For this, see the step-by-step plan 'Paying with Proof of Paid Tuition Fees' at info.studielink.nl/en.
If it is not yet possible at the other educational institution to arrange a Proof of Paid Tuition Fees via Studielink, please contact your study programme at Fontys to request your Proof of Paid Tuition Fees.
Are you already following a study programme at another educational institution and want a second enrolment at Fontys? If so, you can also arrange for a Proof of Paid Tuition Fees through Studielink. This document will then be sent to Fontys via Studielink. For this, see the step-by-step plan 'Paying with Proof of Paid Tuition Fees' at info.studielink.nl/en.
If the other educational institution is unable to forward a Proof of Paid Tuition Fees through Studielink, please contact your study programme at the other educational institution.
Two or more enrolments at Fontys
If you are enrolled in two or more study programmes at Fontys, enter your payment information for Fontys once in Studielink and pay the total amount of tuition fees due for the various study programmes. When statutory tuition fees for all enrolments are concerned, you pay a total of one statutory tuition fee. An exception to this rule may apply to students who have already completed a degree and are paying statutory tuition fees. In cases such as this, please contact your study programme.
Minor at Fontys
What if you registered for a minor at Fontys? If so, you should send an original Proof of Paid Tuition Fees from the institution where you pay tuition before the start of your study programme. Please contact your study programme in this respect.
If you have a Bank account number, of which the bank is not situated in one of the SEPA countries, but you have the nationality of one of the countries included in the EEA*, you will not be able to pay the tuition fee via a digital authorisation, but you will receive a payment agreement from Fontys. This payment agreement will be sent to your Fontys e-mail address and the e-mail address you indicated in Studielink. Please duly complete and sign this payment agreement before the start of your studies and send it to us by post. You will find the address at the bottom of the payment agreement.
It is also possible to scan the completed and signed payment agreement and send it by e-mail to paymentsv@fontys.nl. Please only use this e-mail address for sending the payment agreement and not for sending other enrolment-related documents or questions.
*The countries included in the EEA are as follows: all EU countries, including Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. Switzerland is also regarded as an EEA country.
When you go to re-enrol, you may choose to reuse the digital direct debit authorisation for a previous academic year for the forthcoming academic year. If you choose this option, you don't need to enter any new payment information. You still have to indicate whether you want to pay in a lump sum or in instalments.
If you don't want to reuse your details, you must enter new payment details in the usual way. Please note that this option is only available if you pay yourself via digital direct debit authorisation.
In Studielink, under the Payment tab, you will find the option to change your payment details.
For more information on changing your payment details through Studielink, see the corresponding step-by-step plan at info.studielink.nl/en or the Studielink Q&A.
If you are not yet 18 at the time you want to enter your payment details in Studielink, it is not possible to arrange a digital (direct debit) authorisation. This is because a digital (direct debit) authorisation is a contract with the bank and by law a person under the age of 18 may not enter into a contract with the bank. If this is the case, you have a number of other options for supplying your payment information.
1. Someone else pays your tuition fees
You indicate in Studielink that someone else is paying your tuition fees. See also the information under the heading Third party to pay Tuition Fees.
2a. Start September: You turn 18 between 15 May and 1 September
Will you be turning 18 between 15 May and 1 September? If so, wait to enter your payment information until after your 18th birthday. You can then arrange a digital (direct debit) authorisation without any problems and still be enrolled in time for the start of the academic year.
2b. Start February: You turn 18 before 1 February?
Will you be turning 18 before 1 February? If so, wait to enter your payment information until after your 18th birthday. You can then arrange a digital (direct debit) authorisation without any problems and still be enrolled in time for the start of the academic year.
3. Payment by payment agreement
If no one else can pay your tuition fees, you can pay yourself through a payment agreement by indicating in Studielink that your bank is not in a SEPA country. You must then transfer the full tuition fee amount to Fontys before the start of the study programme.
