Fontys Pulsed Empower is there to help you. Empower is especially intended for you as a student to investigate together which study suits you.
About Empower
The focus in Empower is: personal development and learning to make choices that suit you. You get to know yourself (even) better, discover what gives you energy and where your passion and talents lie, so that you can then search specifically for courses that suit you. Our Empower team is always ready to support you with personal attention and guidance.
The Empower programme is available in Eindhoven and Tilburg.
For who?
Empower is aimed at all students who are unsure about their study choice. It does not matter whether you are studying at a higher professional education, intermediate vocational education or university level. Even if you have not yet started a study, or do not know which study you want to do, you can contact Empower.
If you are registered as a Fontys student, there are no additional costs associated with the Empower program. As a student of an external (high) school, you pay a competitive rate for participation in the program. You will receive more information about this during the intake interview.

Get to know Empower
Before you start, we always schedule an introductory meeting. Here you can ask any questions you have about Empower. You can also take a look at our educational environment.
If you are already registered with Fontys, you can start from October 1. In this case, you only pay your regular tuition fees and there are no additional costs associated with participating in the Empower program.
Minor exemption
When you have successfully completed the Empower program, you will receive proof of successful participation. You can then also use the program to fill the free elective space. You can request credits for the free electives from the examination board of the course you are going to follow. Sometimes you cannot use the evidence, namely if your course does not have any free electives.

Programme
Work on challenges
During the Empower program you work on open-ended challenges. This means that the goals and criteria of the challenges are the same for every student, but the end result can be different for everyone. This will give you an even better idea of what makes you unique! Every three weeks you work on a different topic. There are six challenges in total:
In this challenge you will join the program and discover what inspires you and what gives you energy. You will be given the space to develop something that shows what makes you enthusiastic!
In this challenge you dive into the ups and downs of your life story. You will investigate which roles you take and in certain situations and which people and/or events have played and still play an important role in your life.
In this challenge you will work together in a team.
Together you will be of significance to a specific target group by creating a product/service (solution to an issue) that specifically suits this target group.

Why do certain educational or professional areas appeal to you and what does this say about you as a person? The facets in these directions that appeal to you are important and you will use them as guidelines during this challenge. Choose one of the following options, depending on where you are in your (choice) process:

In this challenge you put yourself in the role of a detective.
A detective who will investigate and map out the case surrounding your own study choice. In this way, you research which courses and/or profiles match your instructions and tie the story together to complete this case.

Develop a solution for a problem that exists in the field or course you are choosing.

In this final challenge from Empower you prepare yourself to close this chapter and launch yourself to the next step. You look back on the past six challenges in Empower. You translate your acquired knowledge and your insight into your talents, fascinations, interests and pitfalls into your own personal brand.

There is a starting moment every three weeks. Before you start, we always schedule an introductory meeting. Good to know: you are not committed to anything when you register. After the introduction, decide whether you are actually going to start. Register below for an introductory meeting.
