Securing Industrial Networks
You’ll learn how to protect production systems against attacks. This includes network segmentation, securely connecting IT and OT, and securing SCADA and PLC systems. You’ll work with real industrial equipment in the lab.
Protecting IoT and Edge Devices
Smart sensors, actuators, and embedded systems are vulnerable to attacks. You’ll learn how to secure these devices and protect industrial data. You’ll also learn to detect when something goes wrong in your network.
Designing Resilient Systems
A cyberattack must not bring production to a halt. You’ll learn to design systems that remain operational even during an incident. In doing so, you’ll focus on redundancy, monitoring, and recovery processes.
Practical Applications
You’ll apply your knowledge in various areas:

Start Dates
The course begins twice a year: in September and February.
Location
You’ll take the course at Strijp TQ in Eindhoven. There, you’ll work in the Fontys ICT InnovationLab using the Festo Smart Industry setup.
Approach
You’ll work on real-world industry projects or on your own project. Students, instructors, and companies collaborate to address current challenges. You’ll receive guidance from experts and complete hands-on exercises. You’ll regularly present your progress and receive feedback.

The course is taught in English.
The course lasts 18 weeks. You will attend classes at Fontys two mornings a week (Monday and Tuesday). In addition, you will spend about four hours a week on independent or group work. Total time commitment: about 12 hours per week.
The course consists of workshops, expert sessions and practical assignments in which you will work on a realistic cybersecurity project. You will attend courses on site at the Fontys ICT InnovationLab in Eindhoven. The course lasts 18 weeks, with two mornings of courses per week (Mondays and Tuesdays). Attendance at courses is important, as you will be collaborating on practical assignments and receiving regular feedback.
The course consists of workshops and practical assignments:
You’ll work on your project iteratively and present your progress regularly. At the end, you’ll deliver a validated solution demonstrating how to secure industrial systems.
You will complete the course with a final project: a technological solution to a security issue.
The Cyber Security in Industry course is taught by a team of experienced instructors from Fontys ICT and Fontys Technology.
