Below you will find practical information about e.g. your application, Fontys account, on campus WiFi, books and laptop requirements.

So you know exactly where you stand and what you still need to do before your application is complete. The application process for non-EEA student slightly differs from the process for other students. You obviously also want to complete your application as soon as possible. That is why we have outlined the step-by-step plan for you below. So you know exactly where you stand and what you still need to do before your application is complete. Tuition fees are a standard part of studying in the Netherlands. You pay your tuition fees via a digital (direct debit) authorisation, either all at once or in instalments. For more information about how and when to pay, watch the animation or see link below.

After applying you received an email from us with your personal login details. The sender of the email: 'no-reply@fontys.nl', and the subject is 'Fontys account creatie/creation'. Please save this e-mail carefully, you will need it!
For practically all online services at Fontys you have to sign in with your Fontys account. This account is a username and password combination. Your user name contains a PCN (Personal Communication Number) and the domain: '@student.fontys.nl'.
More information about signing inBeing able to work and study securely is of the utmost importance at Fontys. That is why we continuously work on improving information security. We switched to a new way of signing in at Fontys: in addition to your username and password, you will also use an extra step as verification (multifactor authentication).
Eduroam (education roaming) is a service that enables students, researchers, and staff to securely access the wireless internet at the Fontys campus and while visiting other participating institutions, using the username and login provided by Fontys.
Advice: Install eduroam on your private laptop, smartphone, and tablet at home according to the instructions. When you arrive at the Fontys campus, everything will be set and ready to go.
Manual: Connect to EduroamFontysConnect, the intranet site of Fontys, is used to make (digital) information available, to share documents, to work together and as a search centre. Everyone with a Fontys account has access. If you log in to the Fontys website with your Fontys account you will land on your personal Connect page. From there you can access the various pages. This is not needed right now but will be come in hand when your studies start!

The student card is provided once free of charge at the beginning of or during the academic year to all students who register for the first time at Fontys University of Applied Sciences. You can apply for a student card when you are fully registered.
It is most convenient if you have your student card right from the start of the educational year. It is best to apply for the card as soon as you know what is your address is in the Netherlands.
You need a student card for various reasons:
Fontys provides you with ‘@student.fontys.nl’ email address. You can log in with your Fontys account. When you start your studies at Fontys, we will no longer send e-mails to your private email address, but instead only use your Fontys email address. Make sure you check this account regularly!

education. This includes the applications Microsoft Office 365 or Office 2019/2021, DLO
and tests.
The camera and headphones are intended for use with MS Teams.
Note: Chromebook/Linux-based systems are not suitable because various DLO components, including TestVision and the lockdown tool, will not work.
Note: Windows 10/11 in S mode are not suitable, Windows 10/11 Home of Pro are suitable.
Because the digital education market (software and IT hardware) is constantly changing,
these student laptop specifications are a recommendation for the minimum
requirements your laptop should meet. However, Fontys University of Applied Sciences
cannot guarantee that during the term of your studies this market will not make
additional demands, or offer new hardware that is less suitable. We will of course do
everything possible to limit the impact on you (your laptop) and inform you to the best of
our abilities.

When starting your studies at Fontys, it is nice to know when we expect to meet you on campus for the first time and what you will experience in the first months at International Business.
The first academic week at International Business starts right after the Introduction week with your Year 1 Kickoff and multiple activities that help you to learn how to work together with their classmates, student coach and lecturers. You will prepare & present presentations for the student coaching sessions that cover topics such as who you are, more about your culture & background, and your connection to the International Business (IB) study programme. This is followed by project workshops that highlight the important research methods & project management techniques that are to be used in all IB projects. In week 2 & 3, various academic subjects are introduced through the kick-off sessions by lecturers.
