Elite sports at Fontys
Fontys is proud
of its elite athletes and talents in the field of sports. In our strategic plan 'Fontys For Society 2025-2030', we say that we facilitate students in developing their talents. Fontys has developed an elite sport policy to create an optimum climate for both elite sporting and academic achievements.
The Fontys Elite Sports Scheme provides support in organising your studies. Fontys can make tailored arrangements to help you combine your elite sporting commitments with your programme, where possible. However, you are still required to meet the same learning outcomes as all other students.
The scheme is available for all Fontys programmes. The support provided may differ between programmes, so we recommend requesting an Elite Sports intake before you apply.
Please note that the scheme does not change the content of your studies. This means that you will not receive exemptions for courses, assignments, assessments or internship requirements.
Having elite athlete or talent status does not automatically exempt you from attending classes, assessments or internships. You are responsible for arranging catch-up sessions and meeting your study requirements.
Together, we will develop a study plan that fits around your elite sports commitments. Please keep in mind that combining elite sport and study may result in you taking longer to complete your degree.
