About Dutch Design Week

From 18 to 26 October, it’s time for the Dutch Design Week (DDW). This year’s theme is: PAST, PRESENT, POSSIBLE. Are you excited to visit DDW this year? Be inspired by the amazing projects that Fontys students and staff are working on!

DDW is the largest design event in Northern Europe and showcases the work and concepts of more than 2,000 designers to over 350,000 visitors from the Netherlands and abroad. During a visit to DDW, you’ll see and experience both the design of the future and the future of design. In addition to the impressive contributions from Fontys students and staff, you can immerse yourself in countless other exhibitions, lectures, award ceremonies, networking events, debates, and festivities spread across around 100 locations throughout the city.

The event covers every conceivable discipline and aspect of design, but the focus is always on experimentation, innovation, and collaboration. DDW highlights how emerging and established designers from the Netherlands and around the world are shaping a positive future.

During DDW 2025, there will be a wide range of projects to explore that Fontys has contributed to.

Fashion Tech: Like Insects

Students from Summa Fashion and Fontys Engineering collaborated with Anouk Wipprecht on the high-tech clothing line Like Insects, which will be showcased during Manifestations and the fashion show on 24 and 25 October.

Seeds of Hope

Graduates from Trend Research & Concept Creation explored themes such as love, freedom, mental health and AI. With their imagination, they are planting the seeds for change: Seeds of Hope.

Step into a speculative installation where you can look over the shoulders of ‘organomen’ and discover how future technology could transform our care and society.

Step into lifelike scenarios and meet virtual humans who are almost indistinguishable from the real thing. This project challenges you to rethink trust, empathy and human connection.

Eindhoven Future proof

Vocational and higher education institutions in Eindhoven present their vision for the future of our city, based on their courses and projects.
