Course description

This course offers a basic level understanding of Spanish for people that are new to the language. There is put a strong emphasis on learning how to properly pronounce Spanish, offering a taste of both Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Latin America, facilitating you to feel comfortable in conversing with Spanish speakers from around the globe. We will occasionally go beyond our textbook to learn Spanish the way it is spoken by its natives in both Europe and on the American continent. Please mind that in order to successfully learn a language, it is required of you to do your homework on a weekly basis.

Competences and learning objectives

After the course you will be able to:

  • Feel comfortable to pronounce the Spanish language;
  • Have a basic conversation with a Spanish speaker about for instance your food preferences, clothes or the weather;
  • Understand a basic conversation between Spanish speakers and the lyrics of a Spanish song;
  • Read a restaurant menu, basic social media posts or a simple email;
  • Write sentences in present, past and future tense.
