Day 2, THU OCT 23 | New Horizons

Today is dedicated to new opportunities and knowledge creation and dissemination. Based on the topics suggested by you, four topics were determined as the basis for four deep dives in the morning. Industry leaders from (live) journalism production, research and education will discuss - or in any other form give substance to - pressing questions around live journalism. Needless to say: please feel free to ask questions and constructively (dis)agree with the panels! Moreover, today we introduce a turn to live journalism formats to reconfigure (journalistic) roles, (professional) routines, (power) relations, and (news) experiences.Several makers from the live journalism network expressed their willingness to show their performances; to tell their stories. Not only is it useful to know how other people go about producing live journalism: we will use the inspiration as a conversation starter for the deep dive roundtables on Thursday.

Living with Drones | Stories from Gaza on the assault on life, land and livelihood Performed by stitched! | Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University

Living with Drones is an interactive live journalism show about the devastating and traumatic impacts of Israel’s use of drones in the besieged Gaza strip. By tying together personal narratives and documentation about the on-the-ground reality of this genocide, this show weaves a compelling narrative that asks audiences to engage with violations of humanitarian and international law in Gaza since October 2023.
