Tuba and Euphonium

Fontys Conservatorium Tilburg offers a modern tuba & euphonium course designed to develop both musicianship and entrepreneurship. Beyond playing in orchestras, students explore solo performance, ensemble creation, and new ways to express their craft. The program emphasizes mastering the instrument while fostering collaboration and adaptability in the evolving music landscape, both online and offline. In the Bachelor’s course, students receive weekly tuba lessons, ensemble coaching, and courses in music theory, history, and entrepreneurship. The Master’s course allows students to customize their studies, focusing on areas like teaching or solo performance.

Teacher

Luc Geraats

Luc Geraats holds a Bachelor of Music from the ArtEZ conservatory and a Master degree on ‘Tuba Performance’ with distinction from the conservatory of Amsterdam. Since 2022 he plays in the Orchestra of the Dutch Royal Airforce. Luc has a profound interrest in new compositions and contemporary music for tuba. Luc is a part of ‘Mosa Brass’ quintet, and the ‘The Baggeraats Collectief. In 2021 Luc founded 8va Bassa, where he is artistic director. Luc has collaborated with local and international symphony orchestras, such as the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Philharmonie Zuid-Nederland, Sinfonie Orchester Wuppertal, Accademia Della Scala Milano, Anima Eterna Bruges and more. Luc is tuba artist at Melton-B&S, and, Artist in Residence at Akoesticum, Ede.

Guest teachers

The Tuba & euphonium will work with guest teachers. Last study year students worked with Rodin Rosenthal.

Audition

Candidates living in the Netherlands/ Belgium/ Western Germany will do a live audition.
Candidates from other countries will do an online audition.
Duration of the live audition is 15/20 minutes.
