Oboe
Students gain a deep understanding of the oboe's repertoire, ranging from Baroque to contemporary music, and develop proficiency in reed-making, an essential skill for oboists. The conservatory setting fosters a collaborative atmosphere, encouraging students to engage with their peers and faculty in a vibrant musical community.
Teachers
Herman Vincken
Herman Vincken is a senior instructor of oboe at the Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg. He primarily teaches classical music, but also coaches several chamber music ensembles. Herman is an expert in making oboe reeds. He has done extensive research into the various types of reed, considering their flexibility, color, and diameter. He has also studied the differences in reed making techniques between countries.
Audition
Candidates living in the Netherlands, Belgium or Western Germany will have a live audition. Candidates living in other countries will have an online audition.
Duration of the audition is more or less 15 minutes.
The audition programme should include:
- 1 melodic and 1 technical etude
- 2 concert pieces or concertos from different eras
