Guitar
As a guitar student at Fontys, you enter an international environment of active and engaged students. Lessons focus on building technical excellence, musical insight and expression, and performance skills. You will have individual lessons, join group lessons on technique and performance, and you will follow an intensive ensemble program. Besides playing the classical guitar, you have ample opportunities to do a minor in jazz, study classical music for electric guitar, participate in contemporary music projects or develop your teaching skills. You also participate in student concerts, festivals and competitions in- and outside the Conservatory.

Johan Fostier
Johan Fostier’s sound and interpretative art cannot go unremarked. He performs throughout the world as a soloist and chamber musician (Take Four Guitar Quartet, Almaviva Duo, Estrellitas Duo) and in the most famous concertos for guitar; his tours took him throughout the world. His sovereign technique, deeply connected to music, enabled him to win several prestigious international competitions. Carried and transfigured by his studies in Brussels (conductor Guy van Waas), Paris (Maestro
Alberto Ponce, Ecole Normale) and in Switzerland (Joaquim Freire, Susane Mebes), he perfected his art in the masterclasses of Nigel North and Eduardo Isaac.
