Teachers
Edith Van Dyck
Edith Van Dyck studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Mechelen, the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Since 2009, she has been solo flute at the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. Edith became the laureate of the Belfius Classics competition, the National Competition for Flute Lions Club Belgium, the National Competition for Flute in Opwijk and the Fontys Competition for young talent in Tilburg.
She is the founder of the Summer Course for Winds in which she offers young musicians a short, intensive training with a focus on performing better under pressure, mental coaching and audition training.
Leon Berendese
Dutch flutist Leon Berendse is a renowned principal, soloist, and teacher, currently serving as the solo flautist with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and a professor at Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg. He has performed the Dutch premieres of flute concertos by Christopher Rouse and Peteris Vasks at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and has toured Europe, the Americas, and Russia with Combattimento Consort Amsterdam. Since 1987, Leon has been the solo flautist at the Netherlands Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestra, recording several albums. A leading flute teacher, he gives masterclasses internationally and coaches orchestras such as the Dutch National Youth Orchestra and the Joven Orquesta Nacional de EspaƱa.
Audition
Candidates who live in the Netherlands, Belgium or western Germany will do a live audition.
Candidates from other countries will do an online audition.
Duration of the audition is 15 / 20 minutes.
The audition program should include:
2 etudes and 3 concert pieces from different eras.
