Bassoon

The bassoon with its rich, warm timbre and wide range, is a distinctive and essential voice in orchestras, chamber music, and solo performances. Studying bassoon at Fontys Conservatory, part of a dynamic Academy with an interdisciplinary environment, offers a unique and comprehensive musical education. The holistic training prepares bassoonists for versatile careers in music, equipped with both technical proficiency and innovative artistic vision.

Koen Coppé



Koen Coppé is one of the leading bassoonists in Belgium. He has been associated with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra as bassoon soloist since 1999. He is also a passionate chamber musician. He opts for pure, spontaneous bassoon playing and he wants to convey imagination and emotion in his performances. Koen is a permanent member of the bassoon quartet Phenix, and is regularly invited to the ensemble Prima la Musica, the orchestra of La Monnaie and the Brussels Philharmonic.

Audition

Candidates living in the Netherlands, Belgium or Western Germany will have a live audition. Candidates living in other countries will have an online audition.

The duration of the audition is more or less 15 minutes. The audition programme should include:
- 2 etudes
- 1 sonata
- 1 concert piece
