The interdisciplinary field of Industrial Cyber Security spans multiple key technologies and domains such as:

  • Network Security & Segmentation: Protecting industrial networks (IT/OT convergence, SCADA, PLCs).
  • IoT & Edge Security: Securing sensors, actuators, embedded devices and industrial data in industrial environments.
  • Resilience & Safety: Designing robust systems that remain operational under cyber-attack scenarios.

Application domains include:

  • Smart Manufacturing Security: Protecting production lines and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Critical Infrastructure Protection: Safeguarding energy, water, and transportation systems.
  • Secure Industrial Automation: Hardening PLCs, robotics, and vision systems.
  • Data-Driven Security: AI-driven anomaly detection and process monitoring.
  • Supply Chain Security: Ensuring trustworthy components and secure data exchange.

1. Dedicated workshops to speed up the learning on Network, Basic IT Security, Data Security, Industrial Automation and OT Fundamentals.

2. Dedicated Advanced workshops on IoT, Infrastructure, ICS/OT Cyber security, OT network protocols, relevant standards

3. Workshops/ expert sessions on demand in the range of the above topics and broader in the field covered by the minor. Some of the workshops could be organized in cooperation with, for instance, the Cyber security ICT program, Smart Industry ICT program, Industrial Automation at Fontys Engineering.

Duration

The course runs for 18 weeks with once per week a session. It is flexible to choose the day that fits you most. For the rest of the week (study load 4 hours), you will work independently or in a group on your own.

Structure

One day a week you will be at Fontys (Strijp-TQ) for workshops, inspiration sessions and your own working time. Contact us to discuss your ideal course schedule. Our experts are flexible and ready to support you on the day you wish most.

You design iteratively and regularly present your progress.

You will conclude with a final product in which you transform your vision of education and technology into a validated technology solution.

Upon completion of the course, you will receive an official certificate.

The Festo Smart Industry setup offers a realistic learning environment and fits seamlessly with the principles of Industry 4.0 and 5.0. As a student, you will learn how to apply digital technologies and cyber security principles to make production processes secure and efficient.
