Your introduction week

The new academic year starts in September ... but before your studies start, you'll first take part in the introduction week. That's Purple 2025! During the introduction week (25 - 29 August) getting to know each other is key.
Important: Starting from 2025, Fontys will no longer provide centrally arranged accommodation during the introduction week. We kindly ask you to arrange your own place to stay or travel to the programme from home each day.

Hi upcoming MIRT-student,

great that you have applied for the MIRT programme!

A good start of course includes a great introduction week. During this week, you will get to know your new fellow students, teachers, seniors, study programme and your new student city. This introduction week will take place from 25 to 28 August 2025. Together with Purple and our sponsors, we have a really fun week in store for you. The introduction week is separate from your registration for the study programme. You must therefore register separately for the introduction week.

No 18 = No alcohol

Programme

This is global! We won't give away everything, of course!

On Monday, you are expected at Rachelsmolen in Eindhoven between 10:00 and 10:30 A.M. On this day, you will be introduced to your study program. We have planned various introductory activities, so you’ll get to know your fellow students and the campus. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a meal together and explore Dynamo at Stratumseind!
We will start together at 13:00 P.M. at the Campus, from where we will walk to the sports fields of Woenselse Boys. On Tuesday afternoon, you’ll get to know other programs within the paramedical studies. After this introduction with the other students, which includes some fun activities, we’ll head to the IJzeren Man. In the evening, there will be a beach party with students from all the different programs. You might even spot some of your future teachers 😉

Wednesday is the day you’ll get to know the city, your fellow students, and the atmosphere at Fontys. During the Purple City Day in Eindhoven, we combine sports, fun, and partying – everything you need to start your student life right! In the morning, you choose a sport at SSCE (TU/e). Whether you like volleyball, fitness, or want to try something new – there’s something for everyone. Everything happens between 10:00 A.M. and 13:45 P.M. After that, you can shower, change clothes, and relax.

Starting at 14:30 P.M. on the Stadhuisplein, the festival feeling begins. Grab a drink, join the biggest Music Bingo ever, or explore secret stages with different music styles. From 17:30 P.M. the party explodes with DJs, live acts, and a spectacular show by none other than DJ La Fuente and other big names.

We wrap up the introduction week with a bang! On Thursday, August 28th, the Purple Festival will take place in Leijpark, Tilburg, bringing together the entire Fontys community. Participants from all Fontys cities and all study programmes will come together at the Purple Festival to enjoy a full day of artists and activities spread across various stages. It's the perfect way to end the introduction week in style with a party that you and your new friends, classmates, and teachers will be talking about for a long time.

The return journey is provided by buses. If you already live in Tilburg or the surrounding area, you can of course just cycle to the Purple Festival!

  • 13:00h - 22:00h - Purple Festival, Leijpark Tilburg

A ticket is included for the entire introduction week. So you do NOT have to buy a separate festival ticket if you participate in the introduction week as a first-year student (intro-participant) or supervisor (intro-parent).

Student Esmee

Esmee

I’m Esmee, 21 years old, and in the second year of MBRT. Next year I’ll start my internship, but first I’m really looking forward to the intro! In my free time, I like to be active: doing fun things, seeking out good company, and always up for a party. You’ll often find me in
the pub with friends. I’m super excited about the intro week and look forward to meeting all of you. Let’s make it an awesome week together!

Packing list

To make sure you're fully prepared for Purple, check off this list. That way, nothing will stop you from having a great intro week.

Make sure you have the following ready when the intro begins:

  • ID card or passport
  • Public transport card (if you have one)
  • Phone charger + power bank
  • Earplugs (for the pub)
  • If applicable: medication + related forms
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Shoes for going out
  • You'll receive a T-shirt from us, but bring a spare
  • Clothes for all weather and ones that can get dirty (e.g. party clothes - you'll get a shirt from us)

  • Sports outfit (Tuesday/Wednesday)
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Cap/hat

And of course, don’t forget your good vibes and a ton of energy! See you at Purple!

Keep in mind the program ends at 22:00 P.M.

This is the week to get to know your new classmates outside the classroom!

Classes start right away the following week, with no informal intro. Students who join the intro week have more fun, make friends faster, and often find housing more easily – because they already know people they can ask for help!

The start page is your main source of information. You may also receive additional info by email.

If you choose not to join the intro week ☹, be prepared to hear stories about it for the next six months.

Greetings, Introductiecommissie MBRT

FAQ

Participation in training activities is mandatory after registration. If you have any questions about attendance during the intro, you can always send an email to intrombrt@fontys.nl.

No, that is unfortunately not possible.
When should I wear my intro T-shirt? When would you not want to wear it! No, no jokes. You will get the intro T-shirt on the Monday at the physical meeting. At this, wearing the T-shirt is mandatory. This is for the reason that both your intro parents and the intro organisation know who belongs to our course and can thus ensure that everything goes smoothly. The other days it is not compulsory, but here we do recommend wearing it. After all, the T-shirt remains a recognition point for us. For some activities you will also need the T-shirt, but we won't tell too much about that right now.
