F. (Firas) Ousta
Firas earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (with a specialization in Telecommunications Engineering) in 2016 from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP). His PhD thesis is titled “Quality of Service Support Framework For HSPA/WiMAX Integrated Networks.”
He received his M.Sc. degree in Computer and Telecommunications Engineering from the American University of Technology (AUT) in Lebanon, with the highest overall grade. He has authored and co-authored approximately 50 research papers in the field of wireless communications. He has served on the technical program committee (TPC) for many conferences and workshops. He serves as a reviewer for major international conferences and journals in the fields of networking and wireless communications. Firas has been an IEEE member since 2006. He is a member of the IEEE 5G and Beyond Roadmap working groups. Additionally, he has been a member of the engineering syndicate since 1999.
Firas's research interests are in the areas of mobile and wireless networks. In particular, he is interested in the design of protocols and architecture for mobile and wireless systems. He is also interested in mainstream research in networks, QoS provisioning, resource management, mobility management, 5G/6G architecture design, and cybersecurity.
In 2023, Firas became a lecturer and researcher at Fontys University of Applied Sciences within the ICT Department. His teaching areas include computer networks, wireless and mobile networks, cybersecurity, and network programming. Currently, he is engaged in research projects at HTES, focusing on cybersecurity and infrastructure-related topics.
