Fontys staat midden in de samenleving. Een diverse samenleving waarin verschillen tussen mensen de basis vormen. Wij geloven dat verschillen tussen mensen juist essentieel zijn om je - als individu en als samenleving - verder te ontwikkelen. Waar je ook vandaan komt of wat je politieke voorkeur ook is, bij Fontys ben je als student en medewerker altijd welkom. We hechten bij Fontys grote waarde aan gelijkheid, respect, inclusie, diversiteit en verbinding.
Als Fontys staan we voor een veilig leer- en werkklimaat voor onze studenten, onze medewerkers en bezoekers. Binnen veiligheid onderscheiden we drie thema’s: fysieke, sociale en digitale veiligheid. Sociale veiligheid verwijst naar de mate waarin mensen zich veilig voelen om zichzelf te uiten, hun ideeën te delen en deel te nemen aan de gemeenschap, zonder angst voor negatieve consequenties of veroordeling. Wij zijn ervan overtuigd dat een student en medewerkers zich in een sociaal veilige omgeving beter kunnen ontplooien en werken aan persoonlijke en professionele ontwikkeling.
Veilige omgeving bevorderen
Helaas wordt in de praktijk weleens inbreuk gedaan op de sociale veiligheid. Ongewenst gedrag (zoals pesten), discriminatie, polarisatie, seksuele intimidatie, agressie en geweld(sdreiging) zijn onacceptabel. Daarom zet Fontys zich actief in om een veilige omgeving te bevorderen. We doen dit onder andere door het inzetten van vertrouwenspersonen, Fontys Helpt voor studenten, en het beschikbaar stellen van handelingsrichtlijnen voor docenten en studentcoaches.
Handreikingen sociale veiligheid binnen Fontys
Om zowel studenten als medewerkers te ondersteunen in sociaal onveilige situaties zijn diverse handreikingen ontwikkeld:
- Docenten en coaches kunnen terecht op de pagina Studentcoaching voor handreikingen bij de ondersteuning en begeleiding van studenten Sociale veiligheid.
- Studenten kunnen terecht op de pagina Sociale veiligheid op Fontys Helpt.
- Medewerkers kunnen contact opnemen met Vertrouwenspersonen.

Wherever you come from or whatever your political affiliation, at Fontys you are always welcome as a student and employee. At Fontys, we value equality, respect, inclusion, diversity and connection.
As Fontys, we stand for a safe learning and working climate for our students, our staff and our visitors. Within safety, we distinguish three themes: physical, social and digital safety. Social safety refers to the extent to which people feel safe to express themselves, share their ideas and participate in the community, without fear of negative consequences or condemnation. We believe that in a socially safe environment, a student and staff can better develop and work on personal and professional development.
Promoting a safe environment
Unfortunately, social safety is sometimes breached in practice. Undesirable behaviour (such as bullying), discrimination, polarisation, sexual intimidation, aggression and threats of violence are unacceptable. Fontys is therefore actively committed to promoting a safe environment. We do this by, among other things, employing confidential counsellors, Fontys Helpt for students, and making action guidelines available for lecturers and student coaches.
