There is perspective again, update 51

Update C

The cabinet's press conference on Friday, June 18, brought relaxations for Fontys and the entire society. This is very good news and offers a pleasant perspective for the summer vacations and the period thereafter.

The most important piece of good news is the announcement that the 1.5 meter measure will be abandoned as of August 16. With this, there seems to be a prospect of a 'normal' start to the next academic year. On August 13, the government will take a final decision on this matter based on the situation at that time. At the same time, this means that until the summer vacations the 1.5-meter-spacing rule still applies and the number of students and staff in a room remains limited to the currently applicable maximum. Furthermore, we will maintain the current timetables whereby students can come to Fontys on average one day a week for educational activities. The guidelines with respect to taking tests will also remain unchanged.

Purple
The board will take a final decision on the Purple Introweek on 29 June, taking into account the latest guidelines from the cabinet. Current sophomores (who followed a fully online intro program last year) will also be invited to the Purple Festival.

Mouthguards
Within Fontys, after a period of eight months, wearing a mouth mask is no longer mandatory from 26 June, except in situations where the 1.5 meters cannot be maintained: think for example of practical education and in the elevators and toilets. Of course, it is fine if students and employees choose to wear a mouth mask anyway.

Working from home
As of June 26, the government's advice to work at home half of the time applies. For Fontys this means that there will be more room to work on location. But beware: the 1.5 meter rule will remain applicable at least until August 16, which means that the maximum number of available workstations and persons allowed in a room is still limited. Because the situation, possibilities and needs differ per building and per team, employees/teams are asked to make agreements about spreading out working days and times.

Talking about rosters and working from home in the new year
The new homeworking scheme offers employees the opportunity to work partly from home after Corona, if their position and work are suitable. We are now discovering together how this works: more and more interactive screens are being put up in meeting rooms and classrooms, and employees are discussing the possibilities and wishes with their supervisors. The underlying aim has always been to limit travel time and movements where possible and to do the work at the location that suits the type of work you do. The work and the tasks determine what can and cannot be done. Working from home is not a right, but a facility. Therefore, if the educational process or your work requires you to work on location then you cannot work from home that day.

Self tests
Even after the vacations the use of self-tests remains important. We urge everyone to continue using the self-tests. Students and employees can request self-tests via SURF www.zelftestonderwijs.nl until the end of July. For new students, a stock of self-tests is available at the institution for the introduction period and the start of the new academic year.
