Consequences curfew for Fontys students and staff, update 43

Update C

During this lockdown, the government made an exception for practical education, physical tests and vulnerable groups on location. What does the curfew starting January, 23 mean for Fontys and in particular for these activities and groups?

Exception to the curfew for taking (practical) exams
Good news! During the parliamentary debate Minister Grapperhaus of Security and Justice mentioned a number of groups for which there is an exception to the curfew applies. One of these exceptions concerns students who have to take or have already taken a scheduled (practical) exam. These students are exempted from being on the streets and travelling after 9 p.m. but must carry their own statement, a statement from the educational institution and their identity papers. The statement from Fontys will be given to the student when he attends the test. A model declaration will be distributed to the institutes by SV.

No exception for vulnerable groups and practical training activities
There is no exception for (vulnerable) students and employees and participation in (practical) educational activities/exercises. (Vulnerable) students and staff members are responsible for observing the curfew.

Employees
Another group that is subject to an exception is employees who, due to the nature of their profession, job and role, have to (be able to) be on the streets after 9 pm. This applies to a number of Fontys staff, for example, colleagues from the H&F department, the IT department, but probably also others. Fontys directors can decide for themselves which employee, due to the nature of his position and role, should receive a statement of exemption for being on the street after 9.00 p.m. They can also issue this statement themselves. The P&O Department will distribute a model declaration to the institutes and services. In view of the purpose of the curfew, please handle this carefully. If you have any questions about this, please contact the P&O Department via: podiensten@fontys.nl

Buildings
Scheduled educational activities within Fontys will end at 19.00 hours during the period that the curfew is in force, in other words two hours before the curfew starts. This ensures that students and staff can be home in time. The only exception to this are examinations, for which the national exception described above applies. The Fontys buildings will close at the usual time, but no later than 9.00 pm (unless a test is being held at that time).
