Campus Rachelsmolen komt tot leven in 3D animatie
De verhuizing van vijf instituten (Mens en Gezondheid, Sociale Studies, Kind en Educatie, Paramedisch en Pedagogiek) uit TF en S3 (TU/e campus) naar Campus Rachelsmolen komt steeds dichterbij. Na de zomer starten zij namelijk in hun nieuwe leer- en werkomgeving. Om hen een beter beeld te geven van die toekomstige plek, maakte architect Barcode een 3D animatie. Daarin ‘vliegt’ de kijker als het ware door de drie nieuwe gebouwen heen en krijgt een inkijkje in belangrijke plekken en ruimtes.
Hoe komt het eruit te zien?
Over deze campusontwikkeling is natuurlijk goed nagedacht. Er is gekeken naar de behoeftes van alle instituten, studenten en medewerkers. De bestaande campus Rachelsmolen wordt getransformeerd van een eiland naar een inspirerende onderwijsomgeving. Een campus waar ontmoeten centraal staat en waar kruisbestuiving leidt tot innovatie, experimenteren en ondernemen.
Kruisbestuiving en ontmoeting
In de visie voor de nieuwe campus heeft ieder instituut niet langer een eigen gebouw waarin al het onderwijs plaatsvindt. Functies en activiteiten worden zoveel mogelijk gedeeld om kruisbestuiving en ontmoeting te stimuleren. Het meest centrale nieuwe gebouw is hét gebouw voor de hele campus en bevat functies die voor de hele Fontysgemeenschap toegankelijk zijn, zoals de mediatheek, collegezalen, evenementenruimte en het restaurant. In het tweede nieuwe gebouw is het praktijkgericht onderwijs ondergebracht en ontvangen cliënten zorg in het zorgcentrum als onderdeel van het onderwijs. Het derde nieuwe gebouw vormt een flexibele thuisbasis voor de studenten en medewerkers binnen Fontys, met werkplekken en onderwijsruimten.

The move of five institutes (Man and Health, Social Studies, Child and Education, Paramedic and Pedagogy) from TF and S3 (TU/e campus) to Campus Rachelsmolen is getting closer and closer. Indeed, after the summer they will start in their new learning and working environment. To give them a better idea of that future place, architect Barcode created a 3D animation. In it, the viewer 'flies' through the three new buildings and gets a glimpse of important places and spaces.
What will it look like?
This campus development was of course well thought out. The needs of all the institutes, students and staff were considered. The existing Rachelsmolen campus will be transformed from an island to an inspiring educational environment. A campus where meeting is central and where cross-pollination leads to innovation, experimentation and enterprise.
Cross-pollination and encounters
In the vision for the new campus, each institute no longer has its own building in which all education takes place. Functions and activities are shared as much as possible to encourage cross-pollination and encounters. The most central new building is the building for the entire campus and contains functions that are accessible to the entire Fontys community, such as the media library, lecture rooms, event space and the restaurant. The second new building houses practical education and clients receive care in the care center as part of the education. The third new building provides a flexible home base for the students and staff within Fontys, with workplaces and teaching spaces.
