Your studies at Fontys start in September.
Exciting! But first, it's time for a great beginning: the introduction week Purple 2026. During this week, you will get to know your study programme, your fellow students, and your new city.
- The Purple introduction week takes place in the week of 24–28 August 2026*.
*The start day (Monday or Tuesday) and any Friday activities are determined per programme.
Make friends and start well
During Purple, you will meet your classmates and connect with people you will have a brilliant time with. You will find out how your study programme works, explore the campus and the city, and take part in fun activities together. Sharing meals, going out, having a laugh, and making memories. It's all part of it.

Programme
Your introduction week is about to begin! Your intro-parents welcome you at 10:00h at Fontys Academy of the Arts in the Refter. During the morning program you will get to know your study programme and classmates.
You can get to know them online beforehand in the WhatsApp group of your programme.
After lunch, you and your group will head into the city of Tilburg for a fun game. In the evening, you eat together. Afterwards, each programme will have its own evening activity until 21:00h. You’ll then make your own way home.
We’ll meet at 9:30h at NondeJeu or De Voltage in Tilburg. Your intro parent will let you know your starting location the day before.
We’ll kick off the morning with an active game at Prison Island and De Voltage, where you’ll take on the challenge and compete alongside your programme to achieve the highest score.
After this energetic morning, it’s time for the Handshake to explore the other arts disciplines and programmes of Fontys Academy of the Arts. You’ll take part in workshops across various disciplines and discover the different facilities within the Academy.
Afterwards, it’s time for a fun Pizza Party in the Muzentuin, where you’ll have the chance to get to know each other, your teachers and staff at Fontys Academy of the Arts. We’ll end the day in style with a school party in the Muziekzaal at Fontys Academy of the Arts. The program runs until 21.00h, after which you’ll make your own way home.
This day is all about getting to know your new city, Tilburg. You are expected at Fontys Academy of the Arts at 10:00h, where your intro parent will be waiting for you. Together, you’ll walk through the city and follow a city tour route.
In the afternoon, you’ll head with your group to the square party in Tilburg, where you’ll enjoy music, good company and a relaxed atmosphere together. The program runs until 22:00h at the latest. After that, you’ll make your own way home.
This afternoon is all about music, fun and the biggest student party of the week. We’ll meet at 13:00h at Tilburg Central Station, where your intro parent will be waiting for you.
From there, buses will take you to Leijpark, the venue for the Purple Festival.
(Some programmes also have a morning program. You will receive information about this at the start of the week.)
During the festival, you’ll meet students from all study programmes at Fontys University of Applied Sciences, dance to the best music and enjoy an unforgettable day together. The festival ends no later than 22:00h, after which it’s time to say goodbye. You can use the bus service back to Tilburg Central Station and then make your own way home.
* Your festival ticket is included in your introduction week registration. No need to purchase it separately.

What to bring?
To make sure you’re fully prepared for Purple, you can use this checklist:
- A valid ID
- Debit card
- A water bottle so you can top up your water at any time
- Ear protection *
- Phone charger
- Power bank
- Medication (if applicable)
- And of course, don’t forget your good humour and plenty of energy!
* During the introduction week, there will be various stages and music genres, each with its own volume level. The music is generally quite loud. We therefore recommend that you wear ear protection.
Additional Information
Medical, allergies and dietary requirements
Are there any medical issues we should be aware of, such as chronic illness or epilepsy? Please let us know in advance via FAA-purple@fontys.nl.
If you are following a diet for medical reasons, have certain food allergies, or are vegetarian or vegan, please indicate this on the registration form. We will do our best to take this into account. If you have any questions about this, please email FAA-purple@fontys.nl.
Alcohol and drugs
The possession, use, or distribution of alcohol, drugs, or other mind-altering substances (including nitrous oxide) is strictly prohibited. No alcohol will be served or consumed before 16:00h, and it is forbidden for anyone under 18. Breaking these rules may result in confiscation and removal from the event.
First aid and emergency services
First aiders and emergency response officers (BHV) will be present throughout the week. Each group will have an intro-parent trained as a BHV responder – you can recognise them by their BHV bag.
Privacy
Photos will be taken throughout the week and may be published or used for promotional purposes. By participating in Purple Introduction Week, you consent to this.
Responsibility
Fontys is responsible for the participants until the end of the official program, which finishes at 21:00h or 22:00h at the latest each day. After this time, responsibility lies with the participants themselves, and everyone is expected to make their own way home.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we want to know in advance whether you are attending or not. Please do so in time as places are limited.
No, it is not obligatory, but it is highly recommended. You will get to know your new classmates, teachers and the campus, and it will make starting your studies a lot easier.
