M. (Marije) Arentze
Marije Arentze is lecturer-researcher at Fontys Journalism since 2022. Her areas of interest include disinformation and information warfare, “pre-bunking” interventions, and (South-) Eastern Europe.
Prior to working at Fontys, she combined a Master’s program in East European Studies at the University of Amsterdam with a position as director at DROG, a Dutch journalism start-up that develops evidence-based psychological interventions against on-line manipulation, such as the world-famous Bad News Game. She worked with researchers and civil society actors from all over the continent to implement these interventions in education programs.
As member of the readership Journalism and Responsible Innovation, her research interests include practical implementations of “pre-bunking” and new roles and perspectives for journalism in the age of misinformation. As lecturer she is involved in courses on innovation, entrepreneurship and cybersecurity.
