Sign inFontys for a sustainable society
Fontys signed the SDG Charter in 2018, endorsing the importance of integrating sustainability into education, research and business operations. We want to prepare our students for their role in society, which requires people who put the sustainability of our economy and thus the future of our planet first! Sustainabilitity is the theme of the first Fontys for society event in 2024.
Focus and pride
From 2024 onwards, we will organize the annual Fontys for society event for and by Fontys from a joint focus and pride. During this event, our Fontys community of students, employees and work field partners will come together and show how Fontys education and research contributes to a sustainable, vital and inclusive society.
A stage where Fontys for society and collaborative initiatives come together and form a showcase for all the wonderful results of education and research with social impact. Students, staff and field inspire each other with examples and stories and encourage interaction, learning from each other and connecting. The event invites networking and new collaborations.
Themes at the event
Prepare for an inspiring educational environment with six areas, two event plazas and auditorium. An open campus where meeting is central and where cross-pollination leads to innovation, experimentation and enterprise. The ideal place for the first Fontys for Society event with 5,000 visitors. Each building hosts one of the following knowledge themes and together they form a diversity of vibes.
Creative economy
Creativity contributes to the fundamental social, economic and environmental change needed to solve the complex issues of our time.
Sustainability & circularity
Through circular transition, we can achieve a sustainable inclusive economy and society, ensure that innovations are embraced and existing habits are abandoned.
Enabling technologies
Technology can contribute greatly to challenges in health and care, agriculture, food and water, security and energy transition and sustainability.
Healthy & inclusive society
We strive for a society that gives everyone a fair chance at health and in which everyone can participate fully.
Future of learning
Learning is essential in our rapidly changing society in which radical developments are the order of the day. How do we best organize and support this learning?
Smart Mobility
With a strong focus on sustainability and energy transition, we contribute to mobility in the region and the rest of the Netherlands. Vehicle safety, logistics chains and mobility data also have our attention.

Fontys for society award
Every day we work together on our mission to positively influence the world around us and contribute to a better future; a sustainable, inclusive and vital society.
