Insurance

By law, you must have healthcare insurance. The type of healthcare insurance you need depends on your personal situation. International students who study or work in the Netherlands are legally required to have health insurance. There are different rules that apply to different situations.

Study purpose only

By law, you must have an adequate healthcare insurance, to make sure that you are properly insured during your stay. The type of healthcare insurance you need depends on your personal situation

Basic Healthcare Insurance and a job or a paid internship

If you combine your study with a part time job related to your study or you have a student job or you are an international intern receiving at least the Dutch minimum wage that applies to your specific situation, you are considered to be insured under the Dutch Health Insurance Act.
