Introduction to the Module

This module provides an in-depth understanding of the management context and environment relevant to international procurement and performance indicators.

Module Aims

The aim of the module is to:

  • Create systematic understanding of procurement management and its application in international context.
  • To develop an understanding of the supplier selection process.
  • To appreciate the current role of technology in procurement processes.

Objectives/Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module the learner will be expected to be able to:

  • Evaluate the impact of procurement on overall organisational performance in terms of competitiveness and profitability.
  • To analyse principles of category management and undertake assessment of supply market.
  • Critically examine the issues of negotiations and contract management.
  • Debate ethical and CSR considerations in procurement decision making.
  • Evaluate the importance of sourcing and supplier selection, development and management decisions in international supply chains.
