To be admitted to the master’s programme, you need a Bachelor of Music degree or an equivalent qualification. In addition, all applicants are required to submit a short research proposal of 500 to 1000 words. This proposal should focus on your own artistic practice as a performer and/or creator. If you do not hold a Bachelor of Music, an intake procedure will be initiated to assess your eligibility.
For all programmes conducted in English Fontys Academy of the Arts has set minimum language requirements.To prove that you meet these requirements you will be asked to send one of the English language certificates.
If you are a Dutch applicant and hold an MBO-4, HAVO or VWO diploma, you are exempt from providing a language test.
Non-EU students who do not yet meet the requirements of the Master’s programme, but who can be expected to develop their skills within a reasonable amount of time to reach the appropriate level, may be accepted to the Pre-Master, a preparatory year. During the Pre-Master, students follow intensive lessons in preparation of the first year of the Master. The decision to accept a student to the preparatory year will be communicated to the student after the audition.
As a non-EU/EEA student, the Netherlands will require an Entry Visa* (MVV) and a Residence Permit. Fontys will apply on behalf of its students for these documents. We recommend you start the process early, i.e. approximately three months before you plan to enter the Netherlands.
*except nationals from Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, South Korea, the USA and Vatican City State.

To be admitted to the Master of Music programme, you must hold a Bachelor of Music degree or an equivalent qualification. If you do not have a Bachelor of Music degree, an intake procedure will be initiated. If you meet the admission requirements, you can enter the audition process. Below you will find all the steps you need to follow.
Start by applying through Studielink.nl. In this phase, you can ignore Studielink’s request to upload diplomas or certificates. These will only be required after you complete the audition.

Upload your assignments (including a video, personal development plan and CV) to your personal admission page in Studielink. Check our guidelines for the audition of the Master of Music.
After preselection, selected candidates are invited for either a live audition (if you live in the Netherlands or Belgium) or an online interview (for international candidates). Please check the specific guidelines per main subject.You will be informed of the exact date and time by email.
You only participate in one round.For Jazz auditions: if possible, bring your own musicians to perform as a group.
