Answers Assignment Sustainable Development Goals - Study Preview IEM

In the video Hans Idema told you that companies no longer only go for profit. They are searching more for ways to combine the company goals with being good for the environment. Some examples how to combine those goals:

  • The goal of having well-trained and qualified staff matches goal 8; economic growth. Training your staff in ways they can grow and be happy in their work results often in effective work, which will help your company grow economically.
  • Reducing costs might be paired with goal 9 to use energy in a different way. Investing in renewable energy might reduce energy costs each month and it helps the environment as well.
  • Company goal 1; qualified staff can be combined with SDG 5. Some research says that having men and women in a team gives a broader perspective to the companies decisions. It is more than fair to give people the same salaries if they do the same job. Giving women the same opportunities as men will help your company grow.
  • Developing new techniques can be paired with several SDG's, just pick a topic that fits your company and see if your innovation can help with for example SDG 3, 9, 11, 13, 14 and/or 15.
  • Combining the goals do not always have to be big projects. Small steps will help too! For example, do noy use plastic cups at work. Buy mugs and re-use them every day. Or buy your staff a nice lunch box for Christmas so they don't have to bring their lunch in a plastic bag.

Your answers might have been different. That's ok! Creativity to work both goals together is the most important message of this assignment.
