Your Purple introduction week
- The Purple introduction week takes place in the week of 24–28 August 2026*.
*The start day (Monday or Tuesday) and any Friday activities are determined per programme.
Make friends and start well
During Purple, you will meet your classmates and connect with people you will have a brilliant time with. You will find out how your study programme works, explore the campus and the city, and take part in fun activities together. Sharing meals, going out, having a laugh, and making memories. It's all part of it.
Want to know exactly what's happening, where to be, and who to contact if you have questions? You'll find all of that on this page.
Together, we'll make this the best possible start to your studies!
Please note that Fontys Technology offers different introduction programmes depending on your chosen course. This page provides information about the introduction for all Engineering students, including those in Applied Mathematics/Data Science, Automotive Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Eindhoven, the Master's in Applied Quantum Technology, the Master's in Digital Technology Engineering, and the Master's in System Design.
Introduction Engineering Study Programmes
The first day of a week full of fun for all new students of an Engineering programme.
The programme starts at 10:00 with a Meet & Greet at Nexus building (De Rondom 1, Eindhoven). We will kick things off by meeting the teammates in your introduction group (your so-called 'family' for this week).
Next, it is time for the Nexus Games, which will take place in Nexus building alongside Engineering students of the Dutch-taught programmes. During the Nexus Games, you will also have the opportunity to discover the wide range of sports available in Eindhoven.
Today is also Diploma Check Day for all Engineering introduction participants who hold a diploma from outside the Netherlands, so please do not forget to bring your diploma (hard copy)! If you hold a diploma from a Dutch secondary school, it does not require verification.
We will round off the day with a short tour of Eindhoven and a relaxed dinner, followed by a pub crawl in the city centre. The party ends at 22:00, giving you plenty of time to travel back home.
Rise and shine! Another exciting day awaits, but we will be starting early, so please be at Nexus building by 09:00 sharp. We are heading out for an active day with outdoor activities, including crossball, pétanque and paintball. In the evening, we will have dinner, followed by Music Bingo and karaoke to round off the day in style. The programme will finish no later than 22:00.
Your introduction day starts in the morning with a City Tour through your Fontys city. You follow a combination of routes past food spots, sports locations, creative spaces, music, innovation and places to relax.
In the afternoon, you take part in one of the festivals or city programme:
Eindhoven - Vibes Student Festival
Tilburg - Square One Festival
Venlo - city programme
The afternoon activities are organised in collaboration with Fontys, the local council and/or local hospitality businesses.
We're closing the introduction week with a bang! On Thursday 27 August, from 13:00h to 22:00h, the entire Fontys community comes together at the Purple Festival*.
Students from all Fontys cities and programmes gather for a full day of live acts and activities across multiple stages. The perfect way to wrap up your first week at Fontys, together with new friends, classmates and lecturers.
*Your festival ticket is included in your introduction week registration. No need to purchase it separately.
All introduction participants will travel together by shuttle bus to and from the Purple Festival in Tilburg. Your intro parents will let you know what time the shuttle buses will depart from Nexus building.
There is no official programme today, but it is a great chance to meet up with your intro family or new friends to finish off the introduction week together. Or simple take it easy at home and get ready for the official start of your studies on 1 September.
We hope you had a great time and made lots of new friends. Good luck with your studies - see you soon at Fontys!
