Your Purple introduction week
- The Purple introduction week takes place in the week of 24–28 August 2026*.
*The start day (Monday or Tuesday) and any Friday activities are determined per programme.
Make friends and start well
During Purple, you will meet your classmates and connect with people you will have a brilliant time with. You will find out how your study programme works, explore the campus and the city, and take part in fun activities together. Sharing meals, going out, having a laugh, and making memories. It's all part of it.
Want to know exactly what's happening, where to be, and who to contact if you have questions? You'll find all of that on this page.
Together, we'll make this the best possible start to your studies!
Programme
If you obtained your diploma outside the Netherlands, please arrive at the Nexus building (De Rondom 1, Eindhoven) at 9:15 a.m. for registration. After registration, you will be directed to the diploma check location at the Service Desk in the Nexus building (room 0.47).
Please bring your original diploma and transcript of grades. Certified copies cannot be accepted. The diploma check is required to complete your enrolment and gain access to your learning environment.
All other students are expected at 10:00 a.m. at the Nexus building (De Rondom 1, Eindhoven).
After registration, age verification and receiving your introduction T-shirt, you will meet your introduction group, introduction parents (senior students), classmates and student coach. You will then take part in some welcome games on campus together. Please remember to bring your own lunch, as this is not included on this day.
In the afternoon, you will take part in a series of Crazy 88 challenges, giving you the opportunity to explore areas beyond the campus as well. In the evening, a buffet will be served at Café Hubble, and the day will conclude with a pub quiz at Café Meteor.
We will be starting early today, as you are expected at the Nexus building at 8:30 a.m. A sports and games day at Rofra is on the programme. There, you will compete against each other in a team challenge event, followed by an enjoyable canoe trip with the whole group.
Both lunch and dinner are included on this day.
Your introduction day starts in the morning with a City Tour through your Fontys city. You follow a combination of routes past food spots, sports locations, creative spaces, music, innovation and places to relax.
In the afternoon, you take part in one of the festivals or city programme:
Eindhoven - Vibes Student Festival
Tilburg - Square One Festival
Venlo - city programme
The afternoon activities are organised in collaboration with Fontys, the local council and/or local hospitality businesses.
We're closing the introduction week with a bang! On Thursday 27 August, from 13:00h to 22:00h, the entire Fontys community comes together at the Purple Festival*.
Students from all Fontys cities and programmes gather for a full day of live acts and activities across multiple stages. The perfect way to wrap up your first week at Fontys, together with new friends, classmates and lecturers.
*Your festival ticket is included in your introduction week registration. No need to purchase it separately.
The day begins with lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., giving you the opportunity to relax and catch up with your fellow students. After lunch, you will take part in a guided tour of the Nexus building, where you will become more familiar with the facilities and spaces you will be using throughout the year.
Following the tour, there will be a presentation entitled Living in the Netherlands. During this session, you will receive useful information and practical tips about daily life in the Netherlands, helping you settle into your new surroundings.
The afternoon concludes with a selection of board games accompanied by typical Dutch gastronomic snacks and treats. This is a great opportunity to socialise, experience some Dutch culture and enjoy a relaxed end to the day.
