Your introduction week: IT, Engineering and Logistics programmes

September marks the start of the new academic year... But before studies begin, you will first take part in the introduction week! During this introduction week (Monday 21 August to Friday 25 August), getting to know each other is what it's all about!

Programme

An introduction week has been organised for all Engineering, Logistics and Software Engineering & Business Informatics students. During this week you will get to know other students, the university and the city.

You have two choices you can make during the introduction week: you can choose to stay the whole week or only be present during the day. If you choose to stay overnight, we assume that you will be present the whole week and also stay overnight. If you choose to only attend during the day, the programme will last until 17:00 each day, which means you will not be present at the evening dinner and parties in the evening.

The only exception is the barbecue on Thursday at De Meulewiekers. This will be the conclusion for those following the day programme.

Monday

We start the day at the campsite Sportspark Vrijenbroek in Venlo. This is where you will stay and sleep. After the groups and tents are divided we have some fun activities planned. The day will end with a party!

For day students, the day ends at 17:00 after the activity.

Tuesday

This day will be filled with all kinds of activities, from an obstacle course to 'poop shorts' and a swimming pool. You and your group will compete against the other groups. In the evening, a big beer pong tournament is organised in which you can participate in pairs. Here, you also have the opportunity to get to know your fellow students and there will be a DJ.

For day students, the day ends at 17:00 after the activity.

Wednesday

On Wednesday afternoon, we will explore the city centre of Venlo. Here we will get to know the city through activities together with other Fontys Venlo study programmes.

In the evening, we will take a pub crawl in the centre of Venlo.

For day students, the day ends at 17.00 after the activity.

Thursday

This day we will go swimming (Engineering) or go to Toverland (Logistics) to recover from all activities in the previous days. In the evening, we will finish the day with a barbecue and a big party at the Meulewiekers.

For day students, the day ends after the barbecue.

Friday

After having breakfast we will end the intro together.

In addition to the Introduction Week, we also have a mandatory registration check. On this day you will complete your registration on the campus in Venlo and you will receive information about the study programme, such as: your timetable, information about your first week of classes and the class layout. The mandatory registration check will take place during the first week of classes.

Photos and videos

During this introduction week, many photos and videos will be made. They will include selfies and videos made by students on mobile phones as well as photos and videos made by professional photographers. By participating in this introduction week you automatically agree that these photos and/or videos are being published (i.a. social media, flyers, ads and websites).

Additional information

If you follow a diet for medical reasons, have certain (food) allergies or are vegetarian, please send an email to info@technics-intro.nl. We try to take this into account as much as possible.
Purple Campsite
Sportspark Vrijenbroek, Wittendijkweg 59, 5912 PJ Venlo
It is forbidden to bring or consume spirits and/or drugs. Alcohol will only be served and drunk from 4pm onwards. At the overnight venues, beer and wine will be served during the festivities in addition to soft drinks (from 4pm).

Measures
If we do find liquor and/or drugs, they will be confiscated and this will be the end of your introduction week. In that case, no registration fee will be returned.

Security will also take breathalyzer tests in the car parks. Should this be positive, the police will always be called and in that case too, you will no longer be welcome at the intro and no registration fee will be returned.

Under 18, alcohol is completely forbidden. Students of 18 years or older will receive an 18+ wristband at the beginning of the introduction week on presentation of their ID card.
During the entire Introduction Week, First Aid / In-house Emergency and First Aid is present.

Participation in the Purple Introweek costs €140. For this amount you will get a super cool programme all week! Furthermore, meals are included and you can use all the camping facilities! You can bring your own tent or book a place in one of the tents on the Purple camping site for € 50,00. We will take care of the tent, you need to bring your own (air) mattress and sleeping bag. There is also a possibility to rent a camp bed for €5,50 per night. Please indicate this clearly when registering.

If you want to participate in the day programme, the cost is €70. For this amount, you will take part in the whole programme until 17:00.

Drinks are at your own expense (consumption price: € 2,50). Free drinking water is always available at the campsite.

We would like to be informed in advance if there are medical matters that we need to be aware of. This includes illnesses, (food) allergies (epipen) etc. You can report this via email to us.
Photos will be taken during the entire Introduction Week. These may be made public or used for promotional purposes. By participating in the Introduction you agree to this (give permission for this).
