Fontysbrede netwerkstoring
Verdere updates volgen indien nodig.
Network outage at Fontys
We are currently experiencing a network outage affecting all Fontys locations. As a result, it is not possible to connect to the network, and telephone connections are also unavailable.
We understand that this disruption may impact work or studies, and we are actively working on a solution. Any updates will be added to this message.
Update January 15 16:00:
The Fontys network is stable again after the previous messages regarding a network outage. For now, you can find the latest update here.
Update January 15 12:30:
In a DDoS attack (Distributed Denial of Service), so many requests are sent from multiple computers to the attacked network that it can no longer handle the influx and the network no longer functions properly. It is not clear when the network will be fully functional again, if you have a large online event planned, decide in advance whether you can go ahead with it. Updates will follow as soon as more is known.
Update January 15 11:30:
Surf.nl confirms that there is currently a network outage in the south of the Netherlands. The SURF network team is investigating the issue. Due to this disruption, other institutions, primarily in the south of the Netherlands, are also affected in their (internet) connections, experiencing slow speeds or potential outages.'We apologise for the inconvenience,' reports Surf.nl.
Update January 15 11:15:
The network instability is caused by a DDoS attack on the network of Surf.nl, the IT cooperative for Dutch education and research institutions. The attack is not specifically targeted at Fontys' network. SURF is working hard to resolve the issues.
Update January 15 11:00:
The network and phone connections are unfortunately still unstable. The colleagues at Fontys I&T are working hard to resolve the issue. Our apologies for the inconvenience!
Update January 14 16:05:
The outage was caused by a technical network issue unrelated to the recent cyberattack at TU/e. The network is currently being restarted, and everything is expected to be up and running again shortly. Further updates will be provided if necessary.
