  •   Your introduction week - Campus Venlo
  •     Programme
September marks the start of the new academic year... But before studies begin, you will first take part in the introduction week! During this introduction week (Tuesday 26 August to Thursday 28 August), getting to know each other is what it's all about!

    Programme

Great that you are going to start your study programme in Venlo! If you would like to get to know your fellow students and other 1st year students coming to study on our campus, please register for our introduction week. During this week we organise lots of activities so you can get to know your fellow students.

The introduction week starts on Tuesday (26 August) and ends on Thursday (28 August). Each programme has an introductory activity with its own group on Tuesday. After that, we’ll head to the city center of Venlo to join students from HAS and UM for the Venlo Introduction Day 2025. We’ll end the day with a BBQ and a party. On Wednesday, there’s a Campus Venlo programme involving all programmes on campus, and on Thursday, we’ll head to the Purple Festival in Tilburg.

If you take part in the introduction week, you’ll receive lunch and a BBQ on Tuesday. On Wednesday, a hot lunch and dinner will be provided. On Thursday, you can buy food at the festival. By signing up for the introduction week, we assume you’ll take part in all activities. Each day, the program ends at 22:00. You are expected to travel to the various locations on your own. On Thursday, we’ll travel together by bus from Campus Venlo to the festival grounds (and return by bus as well).

    Meeting points:
    - Tuesday and Thursday: Campus Venlo
    - Wednesday: FEC Sevenum

Tuesday is our official study programme day. Each study programme organises its own morning schedule, including lunch. The main goal is to help you get to know the fellow students from your programme better. We’re keeping the exact programme a surprise for now. Current students from your course have prepared a special morning for you. What we can reveal is that some beloved traditions will definitely make a return!

In the afternoon, we’ll take part in the Venlo Introduction Day 2025, together with new students from HAS and Maastricht University. During this event, you’ll compete in teams for the highly sought-after Venlo Introduction Day trophy. The day ends with a BBQ and an evening party. The party will end at 10 p.m.

The programme for Purple Wednesday is not yet available. We aim to publish it here by mid-June.

The entire Purple Wednesday programme will take place in Sevenum. You won’t want to miss this day, it’s packed with adventure, both indoors and outdoors. All participants will be offered fries with a snack at the event location. In the evening, we’ll head to a venue where you can grab a bite to eat between activities at a variety of restaurants. This day will end at 10 p.m.

Please note: if you're travelling by public transport, make sure to check the departure times of the last buses and trains.

We’re ending the introduction week with a bang, at the Purple Festival in Leijpark, Tilburg! This is where the entire Fontys community comes together.*

    Purple Festival – Leijpark, Tilburg

Students from all Fontys cities and study programmes gather at the Purple Festival to enjoy a full day of live music and activities spread across various stages. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the introduction week in style – with a party you’ll be talking about for a long time with your new friends, classmates, and lecturers.

Transport to and from the festival will be arranged by bus. If you already live in or near Tilburg, feel free to cycle to the festival instead!

Please note: once you leave the festival grounds, you must check out with your intro parent. Re-entry will not be possible.

We want the introduction week to be fun, unforgettable, and above all, safe. That’s why you’ll be placed in a group with up to seven fellow students. Each group will be guided by an intro parent, who will support you throughout the entire week. This person is your first point of contact for any questions, and they also help ensure the values and standards of the Fontys Purple Introduction Week are upheld so that everyone has a safe and positive experience.

It’s important that your intro parent always knows where you are. For example, if you leave early, make sure to let them know.

    Please keep in mind:

    • Alcohol is not allowed during the daytime programmes on Tuesday and Wednesday.

    • Alcohol is permitted during the evening events.

    • Drugs are strictly prohibited at all times during the introduction week.
